2017 Boys D1 Poll

Just a quick little poll asking everyone's opinion on who they think the preseason favorite for the D1 Boys Team Title. Leave your opinion down below on who you think will take it! I personally think Medina will win btw.

I would add to the list of schools having a good chance to be near the top the following schools: St. X, Hilliard Davidson, and Olentangy Liberty.

I'll pick Hudson for the following reasons

1. I'm from the northeast (lol)
2. I hear they also have several incoming freshmen who may give them some depth at their 4 thru 7 runners
3. They ran well last year at the State Meet finishing second
4. Their three top runners had good outdoor seasons in the 3200 running from 9:28 to 9:48

I definitely think that Hudson and Centerville have to be the top two favorites, but in the poll I picked 'other' because neither of those two teams are so strong (right now) that picking the field against them isn't a good idea.

Lots of unknowns at this point too.

Based upon Ohiomilesplit, Hudson had times of 9:17, 9:37, 9:38, and 9:49 for their top four individuals in the 3200. That is huge going into the 2017 xc season!

I am curious - could you post a poll for your thoughts on the Division 1 girls preseason breakdown?

Thank you.

My Girl's Poll would look like this:

(1) Centerville
(2) everyone else

**they graduate no one from a state title team and incoming talent could make 18:40's JV on this loaded team. They have 1 downfall. No true #1 that could be in the top 5 in the state meet. They do have 8-10 girls that could be in the top 20.

Just looking at last year's state meet results, Hudson appears to be the favorite (finished 2nd, returning 5), but I would expect to see other teams, like St. X, Medina, and Centerville in the mix as well. I believe Lexington is moving up to D1 as well and they return their entire 7 that finished 2nd in D2 last year. Should be very competitive come November

Lexington for CC is just under the limit and will stay D2 and be highly favored to win it. Defiance is the best D2 school moving up and return quite a bit from last year but unlikely to compete with top end D1. Since D1 teams have so much more depth than D2. Where I believe would have had a shot to be runner up if stayed in D2.

Agreed, And Centerville has an incoming freshman that is a great runner that will make them even stronger.

However Lebanon has two incoming freshman that are very impressive. Both will be sub or very low 18's. I believe 1 for sure. And Creek has an incoming freshman that runs between the 2 Lebanon girls that will join Ewert who is a fantastic runner. Those 4 (the 2 Lebanon, Cville and Creek girls) are as fast or faster than most upperclassmen at the schools. It'll Be fun to watch things play out.
