Post Season Meets?
Does anyone know who is doing what? Claynation asked about the MWMOC roster but I haven't seen a roster and I don't know of anyone doing it. What about other meets? NBON, Brooks PR, etc. Also, what has happened to the Golden West meet? At one time it was a big deal. Now it pretty much only attracts kids from the western states and even a lot of the best of the best from those states aren't attending. My guess would be that it has lost out to meets that are more glamorous.

New Balance Outdoor Nationals are next weekend June 16-18. I'm willing to bet Withrow girls are going. I've been told Rasmussen of Kings is running the 5,000

Latest New Balance entries. Both Withrow and Kings have several relays and a few individuals entered. Final deadline is Monday I believe.

Mildly surprised Dustin Horter isnt entered(so far)

Horter got the city records in the 1600 but not the 3200. Any idea what he's running in Seattle. Any one know why he decided not to run 3200 at stste. Don't they run the mile and two mile at Brooks PR and not the 1600 and 3200

Brook PR Invititonal Entries
I noticed that Granville's Natalie Price is entered in the 400. She should have a phenomenal collegiate career at IU.
At 4:07.52 for the 1600, Horter is second slowest in the mile field. There are 3 guys between 4:00 & 4:01. I wouldn't be surprised if someone cracks 4.
A freshman girl with a 4:41 is running!

There was a lot of discussion here about athletes pulling the 1600/3200 double. It is a very difficult task. I believe that in boys Division 1 Lake Cath's Jacob Keating was the only athlete that attempted the double. After running a 4:11 1600 he paid for it in the 3200. There were more girls that attempted the double but results were varied. Turpin's Sam Bush was successful but Hannah Rasmussen of Kings, after running a 4:58, struggled in the 3200 with an 11:24 (?). Davidson's India Johnson scratched the 1600 and only ran the 3200 to win in an excellent 10:23.xx. In Division 3, Brendan Siefker of Ottoville actually did a 800/1600/3200 triple. He was respectable and won the 1600 in 4:13.xx.
Horter could have doubled but I believe he would have been hard pressed to beat Moore given the heat and his effort from the 1600.

Natalie Price is entered in the 400 in the Brooks PR in Seattle on Saturday and is listed as running on Granville's DMR team at NBON in North Carolina on Sunday. That will be tough with the travel - even with direct flights.

She said she was going to Brooks on Friday when introducing herself to Team Ohio for the Midwest Meet of Champions.

The two Brunswick girls, Rebecca Craddock and Felicia Pasadyn, doubled marvelously, especially considering how hot it was.

They were included when I stated that "There were more girls that attempted the double...." Beachwood's Leah Roter also did the same in division 2. She ran the 1600 and then won the 3200.
It's interesting that a lot more girls attempted the double than guys that did.

Yes, I saw your blanket statement, but I think the fact that they were both all-Ohioans in both events warrants specific mention considering you singled out other athletes pertaining to this particular topic. Especially Rebecca Craddock:
4:44 in 1600 (2nd)
10:31 in 3200 (3rd)
That is one of the best doubles ever recorded at our state meet both in time and finishing place.

There was no slight intended, coach. I'm not a journalist and this is a public forum. I haven't the time to comb the results for all outstanding performances. Thank you for your contribution, though.

I dont know who drew the heats for 4xmile's but they did a terrible job. Both boys and girls winners came out of the "slow" heat, the girls winner in 4th fastest time in history. Boys fast heat was alot closer to Louisville but fortunately it didnt cost them the championship.

They would have had it easily had their anchor leg(I think it was Smith) not hit the last hurdle and fell. Considering the time of the team that won that heat(59.23) probably somewhere high-58.

They did set a new city record in the shuttle hurdles event. Prior to this year Walnut Hills girls had the record at 1:03.47. Wind is not a factory because two run with the wind and two against the wind as they shuttle back and forth.

It should be noted that Withrow ran over standard girls high hurdles(33") at New Balance, whereas the Walnut Hills performance was over 30" hurdles(I believe at the Gold Baton Relays).
Also worth noting Withrow had already claimed the record earlier this season at the Roosevelt meet in Dayton, running 1:01.63. Impressive they were able to improve on that performance even with Smith falling off the last hurdle at NBN.

In the shuttle hurdles, races are run at the height of the 300 hurdles and not at the height of the 100/110 hurdles. The girls run the shuttles at 30" and the boys at 36". Did you go to the NBON? is there anywhere it is posted the girls will run at 33" and not 30"?

While many local relay meets do run the girls 4x100 SHR at 30", the national standard is 33", both for competition and for record keeping.
Here's the video from Withrow's run last weekend. You can tell that the hurdles are most definitely set at 33" by looking at the gap at the bottom of the hurdle's sliding support legs, especially in the head-on shots.

For comparison, here's the video from the girls 400m hurdles. By looking at the difference in the side sliding rails you can see the hurdles here are obviously set lower.
