Teradja Mitchell basically picked tOSU for it's ability to prepare him for the League. A lot of good Ohio kids will be heading around the country until Urban retires or his health gives out.

How many other reasons do elite recruits have for picking a college these days? They all hope for NFL careers and seek out the schools they feel best enhances their chances, within the framework of their other requirements (location, major, atmosphere, girls, etc).

It's interesting how there is widely divergent information out there on kids. White is going to visit Alabama soon, and they're totally under the impression their competition is Georgia & Clemson. They don't see Ohio State as even in the running on him.

White is committing later this month and it's believed that Georgia and Clemson are the favorites, but he's also liked Alabama.

A couple interesting developments this week:

- Penn State loses another 5 * recruit, QB Justin Fields. The top of their class took a big hit this spring.

- Bob Stoops retires in June, guys like T.J. Pledger may now be back in play.

It's also interesting how practically every QB out there is a "LSU target."

http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index...fields_de.html

I guess their QB play has sucked so bad lately that they probably have to target every highly rated QB out there.

A 3* RB who will likely be a 4* soon, sounds like one of the fastest guys in the country. Clocked at 4.31 40 at Alabama.

Landing Zamir was a long shot. Good pick up, heard he ran a 4.31 40 handtimed which still converts to a mid 4.40. That fast at that size?

Master is a solid 2nd RB to compliment Snead in this class. Raw player that is a good character person with huge upside as he has only being playing football for a year, didn't even camp last year. Will probably be a red shirt his first year as he needs to learn how to block and get involved in the passing game.

Not really. He liked OSU all along but his mom wants him at Georgia. Looks like mom might win now.

Doesn't mean OSU wasn't a long shot.

Matt Jones, too 60 overall player and OL/DL commits. He's another in the line from the Brooklyn high school that Curtis Samuel is from. The Buckeyes see him as a center or a guard.

They now have the #1 class and still have far and away the most talented class.

Outside of the Matt Jones commit, my guess is he ends up being a Guard at tOSU, the big news this weekend is what Tyreke Smith wore to the camp>

Not sure what Urban Meyer or Larry Johnson think of this but still kind of ballsy to wear an overt political statement like that on a shirt at a football camp.

He's young and inexperienced in life. That's the slack I'll cut him. He may very well grow tremendously in college as he's exposed to more diverse thoughts and people. On the other hand, there are other players I would go after before I would bring in a kid who may truly believe what's on the shirt.

Ohio State lands #1 TE recruit Jeremy Ruckert: http://www.espn.com/college-sports/r...-2018-no-39

Back in the day an Urban Meyer offense would never dream of landing a TE in the top 20 rankings let alone beating out some of the top pro style offenses in Michigan and Wiscy for the #1 TE in a class. Shows how much Urban is evolving on the offensive side of the ball.

Ehh, Urban did have Aaron Hernandez.

Ruckert's recruiting tape is hilarious. Double teamed every time, just throw it up and he catches it. Looks like he plays WR in high school which is a great sign. 6'5.5" seems to be Tyler Eifert-esque.

Back into the #1 spot with an average rating above 95.

Not sure how highly recruited Hernandez was, that was so long ago and I am sure Urban wishes to forget that name.

He was very highly rated. 36th overall and #1 TE in the nation. Marcus Baugh was a respectable recruit as well, although Ruckert is no-doubt the best coming out of high school Urban has had since Hernandez.

Man, the whole announcement thing is over the top with how they're carefully produced and edited these days.

I thought the Go Kart thing was a nice touch. A different spin on traditional commitment vids.

I've heard he will be more college ready from day 1. Doubtful his ceiling is as high, but I don't mind them taking a chance on him.

Extending Marcus the offer and taking the commitment was a wise move for a couple reasons:

1) It has been widely circulated that Marcus was given some bench marks by Urban to hit to get the offer and he attained these, thus by Meyer offering and accepting the commit he kept his word. Very important in the recruiting game to do this.

2) Supporting family and creating a sense of taking care of your own is also very important to recruits. Look what happened to the Borens, UM lost that "family" feel and thus some solid B1G players because of this. It also looks like tOSU will have the Wrays locked up because of the family angle too. If all things are equal go with the folks you know.

TBH I didn't even know Reed went to Florida. He was pretty highly rated, but not as high as Hernandez or Ruckert: http://247sports.com/Player/Jordan-R...stitution=6132.
