I would agree. Most football people will say the most important attributes of a team are having a great passer, and having a pass rush to harrass the QB.

I’d list importance this way—
1) QB
2) OL/DL
3) DB/LB
4) WR
5) TE/RB
6) K
7) P/ST

I didn't advocate to get Taylor ... was my bet is what they will do ... because he will come cheap ... but now my bet is AJ McCarren

Can anyone watching the painful game in Jax deny that with cap space and 2 top 5s we have to take some shot at an elite QB ? We have an O-line, we have the beginning of a fine defense - it's time.
No Saquon unless the new personnel evaluators think Cousins or another FA QB are the best option.

Most I've heard on the radio have an "urban" sound to them.......coincidentally or not, many of those callers also like Lamar

Just for clarity - Generally speaking, I take it. Not for Cleveland '18 draft picks, right ?

Trying to replicate the Patriots model is useless unless you have the best coach & QB in NFL history.
|
Precision route runners and a precision passer. The whole thing in NE goes to crap without multiple reliable targets and an all-seeing QB.

Right, hence why trying to duplicate the NE model is a fool's errand. Unless you can get the best coach in NFL history and the best QB. Otherwise, you need weapons in addition to a good QB.

no doubt
One quick, kinda thick, smart whitey slot WR works anywhere that the QB has a semi-quick release and a tall hands/burner threat to stretch it, though.

I guess they had the best NFL coach in history, but they fired him

If AJ wins his FA hearing and it's not a trade, he'd be a fine bridge to a top-potential pick. He'll never be a top QB without everything else aligning, though. Expend little or no draft capital for AJ.
The Browns have 0 "extra" draft picks.
NONE

Your post is a fool's troll. No shocker there.
It accidentally raises a question of how patient the Cleveland fans would have been with Bill, though, had Art not taken the team. Bill's "diminishing skills" assessment/benching of Kosar was very unpopular.

No one said anything about hall of famers, and no one said you don't need a good QB, too.
Unless you can guarantee your team is going to land a generational QB talent like Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, or Tom Brady, you'd best have a good RB. In other words, take the RB when you have the chance.

To me the writing is on the wall ... the Browns are going to take a QB with the first pick ... I think it will be Darnold ... safest pick ... or if Dorsey has guts ... Allen ... the one with the most upside ... with either of these picks(or Rosen) they are going to get a bridge/mentor QB ... the best of those would have been McClown ... but that ship has sailed ... so who is next ... McCarren (if FA) or Taylor or someone like Case Keenen (from last year) ... they are not going to want to pay a lot for the bridge QB. Alex Smith would be nice ... I just don't know if that is going to happen.
Other things the Browns need ... a slot WR ... a DB ... a RB to pair with Duke ... and an OL if Thomas calls it quits ... I would like to see them sign a few FAs in these spots so the can just take BPA with the rest of the draft.
They could go from 0-16 to 8-8 if they play their cards right ... starting with a quality OC!

I get what you are saying ... I just feel that to get Barkley they are going to have to draft him 1st ... the Colts are going to take him with the 3rd pick other wise ... and a QB is a greater need and they are going to want to guarantee they get the one they want with the first pick ... second Minka Fitzpatrick is the best player in the draft (IMO) ... he is just too good to pass on with the 4th pick ... you can get good RBs later in the draft ... in fact many years the best value picks are RB later in the draft ... like Bell and Hunt ... in my opinion, they will be able to get a really good RB with one of their 2nd round picks.

It will be difficult for them to go wrong with 2 top 4 picks; Darnold, Barkley, and Fitzpatrick are all good selections. I just think Barkley and Fitzpatrick are better than any of the QBs.

Well, how about Rookie of the Year in 2017 ?
Kamara or Hunt ? Which third rounder would you vote for ?

I'd take Fournette if I had to pick one. Kamara and Hunt stepped right into potent offenses, Fournette went to the freaking Jaguars.

Let’s not forget the Browns have enough ammo to move into the first round a third time if a QB they may like, such as Allen, slides toward the latter half of the first round.
The more likely scenario, however, is they take a QB at #1. Probably Darnold. I fully expect Dorsey to bring over a veteran QB to start for at least 2018.

Well, he’s right about Belichick. He was the coach of the Browns to the literal end of the franchise in Cleveland. He was fired by Art Modell after the team had moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens.
