Ohio's best player

Ohio's Gatorade Player of the Year from 2017 is back this year to again lead her team down tourney road. Carly Wagers had an amazing season last year for DIV state champs, Williamsburg High School which is about 30 miles east of Cincinnati.
She stroked 23 Home Runs had 86 RBI and hit .646 on the year. She was even intentionally walked with the bases loaded in a close game. Wagers slugging percentage was 1.531 so you can see why she was intentionally walked. She scored the winning run in a 3-2 victory to win the Ohio title game.
As striking as her hitting numbers were, her work in the circle might has been even more impressive. An 18-1 record, .40 ERA and 268 strikeouts in only 122 innings made her money for her Wildcat team.
As of the preseason voting, Wagers tourney tested team is ranked #1 in the greater Cincinnati area. Stay tuned for season updates.

That's pretty impressive. The HR's prove that she is truly hitting the ball hard. State record 23 will be hard to beat.

Another player to consider would be senior righthander Emily Gant from Central Crossings in Grove City.
Gant struck out 30 batters (yes 30) of the 31 batters she faced in a 10 inning game against Pickerington Central on March 25th. Only one single prevented Gant from throwing a 10 inning perfect game.
According to the OHSAA, the 30 Ks are the most ever in a 10 inning game.
The game ended in walk off style when Gant's battery mate, senior catcher Hannah Scott, unloaded a 3-run blast to secure the shut out win.
Gant, a Boston University signee, compiled a 4-5 hitting day during the season opening win.
