The dad essentially train-wrecked his kid. What a complete imbecile. Sad.

The Dad is the definition of an A** Clown! His son was a Professional that wasn’t Paid?? That should tell everyone right away how stupid the father must be.

They didn't pay HIM but you know the family got paid for him. He still played professional basketball and should not be competing against high school teams.

As stated last week Ball gave up amateur status and cannot play against OHSAA high school teams--certainly he can play against other Prep Schools like Huntington Prep in WVA where Tribble from Winton Woods (scrimmaged vs. Oak Hills Saturday and then quit Sunday) headed to after the Sidney kid quit Huntington and headed back to Sidney---everything about this stuff is ridiculous to say the least--HS teams in mid-November don't even know if kids are staying or leaving after playing in scrimmages.

Why would he want to play against $hitty Ohsaa teams? Play just prep schools

Could it be it is hard to find events that have all non-sanctioned schools? I know there is some towards the end of the year, but maybe Dec - Feb almost all the tourneys that give visibility are a mix of prep and teams aligned with a state association.

So Jerry's basically saying CometCountry's interpretation of the rules is wrong? This isn't me calling him out, just think a lot of people would like to know one way or another before games are played.

Looks like OHSAA is going to leave it up to their member schools to decide to cancel the game with Spire or not---Sounds to me that OHSAA is saying if a member school wants to cancel a contract with Spire then that is OK with OHSAA with no penalty for opting out of a contract (normally OHSAA schools have to pay a penalty if they cancel a contract with another OHSAA school).

I'm surprised that Mr. Snodgrass has taken this stance with OHSAA with a team that has a former paid player playing in the games--odd but I guess they are taking a hands-off approach and are letting the schools (like non-member Oak Hill did) decide to cancel/play on their own.

He HAS to take that approach.. they have no control over SPIRE... and they've allowed teams to play teams like Spire routinely in the past at their discretion... it's the right move by the OHSAA.

I agree Mc, but have those other teams previously had a legally paid professional player playing against OHSAA member schools--I know Bazely from Princeton got $'s last year, per the NCAA trial going on now, and he played vs. HS teams last year--think its a slippery-slope for OHSAA right now.

If they need games they should schedule Fenwick. Travis Dahm would clamp that cornball up. Haven't seen a defender like him since Gary Payton. In fact, they should have a daddy 1v1 at halftime between Lavar and Mr. Morris, Jared's dad. I'll take Morris by 10

I've also heard that local colleges won't host games involving SPIRE for the same reason. Coach from Garfield Hts keeps bragging on twitter about trying to schedule a game against SPIRE, but can't find a place because Cleveland State won't host it.

People blasting us why we don’t challenge @SPIRE_Institute The reason: We already Play them in Jan!@FlyinToTheHoop haha. But let’s have them come to California before to give Lamelo a homecoming Cali game. We would put that together. A great idea. We love challenging our guys.
