Recruiting season

Now that the high school season and all-star games are over, when does the recruiting start for the 2018-19 season. Who will be the first players to declare for a new school?

I'll venture the majority of transferring is between public schools.

Can SVSM pull off getting Lebron James Jr?

SVSM needs a big name since Hoban is killing SVSM in football recruiting

Once the "sit out last 1/2 of the season" (if the vote passes in May) kicks in I venture to say there will be less transferring this upcoming season--my opinion!

Don't know the names. but it will be public school transfers after the AAU season has wrapped up.

The 1/2 season rule won't have any effect on those players whose parrent(s) "moves" into a new school district.

Actually STVM has the better incoming football class this year. They are loaded.

In case you missed it.....the St V football team played in the D3 state semi final last year and return 16 of their 22 starters. I think the football program-team has plenty of talent. JV and freshman teams had outstanding seasons as well.

Did Hoban's OHSAA investigation and subsequent probation catch up with the program?

It also won't affect anyone who transfers before the new rule takes place (if it passes). Only those who transfer after the vote passes would have to sit out the 2nd half plus the tournament (if they don't meet any of the exceptions).

It is less of "recruiting"- more about parents looking for greener grass

Most feel this rule change will pass without issue and transfers happening after middle May 2018 be subject to the new rule.

It might be a little difficult to transfer before
a May vote which would leave only a matter of several weeks of school. Trying to get acclimated to a new school and finish classes and exams in courses you haven't been attending could prove troublesome.

Yes, and most of them happen to be a part of or in contact with the admins who travel to central Ohio and deal with the topics of high school sports. Have you talked to anyone who has said they will vote No?

Lol. How many drinking buddies do you have that are school admins?

I have no idea if it will pass or not. I just find your notion that you have a finger on the pulse of this thing laughable.

Laugh while you attend the state tournament for 3 days talking to people involved in the decision making. Plus a large portion of the state was surveyed about the topic before it was proposed as a rule change.

Classes? You talkin classes? Parents who are willing to have their athlete transfer during their 4 short years of high school don't care about much except getting their athlete..I mean KID a better opportunity than they think they currently have. They will clearly do anything including lying about where they live to get their way without penalty. There will be transfers in the next month ahead of the potential rule change - no recruiting needed.

My initial reaction was that it will be a close vote, but the administrators that they interviewed in the local paper believe it will pass without too much difficulty. They did not feel the same way regarding previous referendums that did fail in recent years - like the most recent attempt at public-private separation or the competitive balance adjustment that would've included the tradition factor and free & reduced lunches which was yanked before it went to vote.

Those voting FOR the new transfer rule:
90% of schools that dont recruit

Those against it:
10% of the schools who live and die with transfers
