Early Predictions for Hoover and McKinley Jobs

Two high profile jobs open in Stark County (are they both still high profile) who are some of the early predictions as to who might want these jobs?

I've heard Giammarco - McKinley and Hackenberg - North Canton but not sold on either.

If Hackenberg leaves GlenOak, who goes after that job? Also Joyce is not leaving St V.

I canít see Dru coming south to take over Canton McKinley. What are chances Bryant Bowden could be interested and would he have a shot? I still say McCloud gets a serious look. He seems to be well supported by the Canton community. Big question here is can he transfer his successful playing days into being a successful head coach. Perhaps he surrounds himself with some seasoned assistants who can help him grow into the job.

Didn't Dru's name come up the last time the McKinley job came open before the merger? For some reason I have a faint memory of that being brought up on this site.

I believe Dru may have interviewed for the job or was talked about for the job at some point.

This is Canton McKinley. You don't grow a coach on the job. You don't hope a once great player can coach. You hire a highly successful head coach with proven and consistent success. If one of your legendary alums wants to grow into the next coach, be an assistant coach and take on major responsibilities as an assistant. I'll be honest ... I do know the Bowden and McCloud were great players. I don't know what coaching experience they have. But you don't want to do what Hoover just did and hire a head coach in training.

Bryant Bowden was the head man in 2015, the Bulldogs went 8-14 under him.

Joyce (was on the short list before) interviewed, SV alums came up with more $ to keep
him, (IE: see other schools want me).

Wackerly wouldn't be interested in the Hoover boys gig? Or have the bridges been burnt too much after he coached the girls there?

From LeBron's video blog, that doesn't seem to be the case Carl Rick. He was jacked about the state title.

Thatís more because of the crackdown thatís coming to AAU (Lebron doesnít want to be a part of that) from the FBI investigation than any cracks in relationship between Dru and Lebron

Not questioning his coaching ability just passing information that I heard. I heard that the merger with Timken and McKinley has been tough in terms of getting the former school communities to meld at one. Heard that one of the attributes that will looked at when hiring a new coach is the ability to unite. Again I am not questioning the coaching ability I am just passing along information I have heard. This coach was mentioned to have shown some interest.

Best post is from Look Ma No Hands. His comments hit the nail on the head.

First of all who in the hell cares about the fan's favorites. Fans and parents have no business being involved in hiring coaches. None whatsoever. In both cases(McKinley and Hoover)the schools should go outside their systems and find good coaches that the locals know nothing about. Check references and credentials thoroughly and hire people with open minds and who will not be influenced by anyone. If McKinley ever hired a coach who knew the game and exercised strict discipline they would be in Columbus almost every year. Might help if was also a teacher. Get back to the basics and forget the former players and AAU rascals.

Weekly has head coaching experience at Meadowbrook and Newcomerstown. I think he was assistant at Jackson a few years back. He was a "finalist" back when Hoover hired Blackledge.
