Lightbulb When did OHSAA convert from Yards to Meters?

Can someone tell me what year OHSAA converted from yards to meters? Also, I'm trying to convert a shuttle hurdle time in yards 58.8 seconds to meters? Can someone help me out with this?

In this case, the conversion factor of 1.0025 is used to get the equivalent metric mark. This is derived as follows: Divide the metric distance, 4x110m = 440m by the yard's distance, 4x120yd = 480yd. 440m divided by 0.3048m/ft yields the metric race as 1443 feet, 6.83 inches. 480 yards converts to 1440 feet. This yields the ratio shown: 1443ft 6.83in / 1440 ft = 1.0025.

Multiplying 58.8 MT by 1.0025 yields 58.95; however, this time must be rounded up to 59.0 MT as the original mark was recorded in 1/10 second increments. Converted to FAT, if you are want to do that for determining when a future mark would be better than the 58.8 MT yard mark, you would add 0.24 seconds to the 59.0 MT, yielding the metric equivalent time of 59.24 seconds. Anytime under that mark would statistically be a superior mark.

Hope that helps.
