Iowa: Hudson 35 West Hancock 28

Just sixteen seconds into the game, Alec Staebell broke to his right and picked up 13-yards to give Hudson a first down and set the tempo for what would come to be a very entering game, from the UNI Dome. The Drive would continue when quarterback Jacob Murray found Ethan Fulcher for a 34-yard catch,with 10:32 showing on the clock. The seven play,56-yard drive came to an end on a 8-yard touchdown run by Staebell. The point after kick was boomed over the crossbar to make this a 7-0 Hudson lead, with 9:17 left in the quarter.

At the 6:00 mark the Hudson defense got a turnover, when Tony Trevino recovered a Bennett Bruns fumble.
It took just 5-plays to go the 40-yards needed to light up the scoreboard again. The score came on a 15-yard Murray to Fulcher, with 3:57 left in the first. The score was set up when the same combo connected on a 18-yard strike. The point after making this a 14-0 game.

The Hudson defense would get another turnover, when Trey Germain recorded a fumble when a bad exchange from Brayden Leerar to his running back at the 3:05 mark of the quarter. This time it took just one play to go the 27-yards needed to light up the scoreboard again. The scoring play came on a Murray to Staebell pass, with the point after the score was 21-0, with 2:59 left in the quarter.


The Eagle offense finally got on the scoreboard with 2:22 left in the first. The score was a 43-yard run from Josef Smith, a two point try failed leaving this a 21=6 game.

With :33 seconds left in the quarter the Eagles defense got a diving pick from Caleb Eckles.
The Eagles had all of the momentum in the world going into the second quarter, but that would in quickly with a fumble by Cole Kelly, that was recovered by the Pirates.

Hudson would go 10-plays 66-yards after the fumble to score again. The score came on a 14-yard run by Christian Seres. The point after kick would make this a 28-6 game, with 7:52 left in the half.

West Hancock would get a 70-yard run from Kelly, who went right up the gut of the Pirates defense.A two point conversion made this a 28-14 game, with 7:04 left in the half. The drive took just two plays and total 73-yards.

Eckles would lay a monster hit on Staebell who was lucky to hang onto the ball after he caught it. The play did go for six tough yards.
The Pirates converted a 3rd and 15,when Murray and Staebell teamed up again.The 8-play 51 yard drive ended with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Levi Budreau. The point after kick was good once again to make this a 35-14 game, with 2:54 left in the half.

The third quarter began with a band, when Josef Smith took the opening kickoff to the house, from 90-yard out. A two point conversion pass was intercepted by Payton Stuart keeping this a 35-20 game. Momentum was again on the Eagles side and this time they would keep it, thanks to their defense.

The clock showed 10:24 when Murray put the ball on the ground and making the recovery for the Eagles was Matthew Francis.
The Eagles offense failed to score, but the large crowd could see that this game was far from over.

Facing a fourth and goal from the Eagles one yard line the Pirates elected to go for it and that decision was a bust because Seres was stopped short of the goal line when Fulcher laid a Jack Lambert type hit on him, at the 3:15 mark of the quarter.

The Eagles offense would move the ball 25-yards on the drives first seven plays and then on play number eight Leerar threw a short pass to Smith, who did not stop running until he had gone 74-yards for another score.Kelly converted the two point run making this a 35-28 game, with two seconds left in the quarter.

The fourth quarter would go scoreless as both teams seen the defense rule the quarter.
Both teams would have some nice moments but in the end the defense would always come up with the play needed to keep the score 35-28.
