Only slightly, he may be working on some things. He's a guy who really has to have his change up working to be effective. If he can't get hitters to swing at the change, his other stuff isn't great. He also has been a guy who seems to run up high pitch counts. I'd guess if we're 4-5 starts into the season and he's still struggling, then it's time to panic.

Right. Just average stuff. That's what all the scouts and analysts say about Luis Castillo. His stuff isn't great. His 96.6 MPH avg velo on his fastball isn't great. Also, his curveball the second half of 2018 with a 40.3% swing and miss rate isn't great.

I read that this spring the Reds had him focusing on his 3rd pitch (curve or slider). Bottom line if he is healthy and has his command like he did the second half of 2018 he will be awesome.

He's had his moments, both good and bad. This is a big year for him. Can he be a true top of the rotation guy, or is he going to just keep figuring things out. Remember, he began last year in double A.

Check that, he began 2017 in double A.

I agree that this is a big year for Castillo and he has been inconsistent thus far. But saying his stuff "isn't that great" is what I took issue with. His stuff is amazing. That is why we think that with command/consistency he can become a top of the rotation guy.

I like Castillo as he has that bulldog mentality that an ace should have. I also agree this is a big year for him. Not necessarily a make or break year, but a year in which we will get an idea of what his career could look like. He's entering into his prime years so we shall see. I hope he gets it turned around this year.

Unless he's physically not healthy, I have no worries about Castillo at all. Does he have a high (actually, VERY high ERA) so far? Well, so do Romano, Garrett, and Reed.
Everybody is getting ready for the season. Judging someone based on their spring training results -- as long as they are 100% OK physically -- is meaningless.
I'm confident that he'll be fine.

Mlbtraderumors predicted 2 yrs/$24M for Gio Gonzalez. He reportedly has a verbal agreement with the Yankees for a minor league deal with a $3M salary if he makes the big league club and an opt out date of April 20th.

How much has Dallas Keuchel's price dropped, in your opinion?

The Indians have reportedly dropped the asking price for Kluber. The Padres have reopened discussions on the ace.

First of all, predicting $12M per year for Gio Gonzalez was silly to begin with. That would make him around the top 30-35 SP in salary. He is not a top 30-35 pitcher. Just inside top 100, IMO. However, seeing him slide to $3M is surprising. Scott Boras will end up panhandling on the street.

As for Keuchel's price, I have to think he is still north of $12M per. But who knows given how FA is going this year.
