It should be played at Barberton "Rudy Sharkey" stadium! Offsets the recruiting cheaters from Hoban!

With this being the de facto Summit County championship, let's play it at the Rubber Bowl!

We have 2 great teams with stars on both sides..... Best defenders will win..... field position will be important..... Each team has "big play" ability.... this is what playoff football is all about.... Go Magics...

Barberton has played a bit sloppy IMO the last 2 games. Bad special teams and quite a few miss tackles on defense. Fortunately they absolutely swarm to the ball but plays that should be losses end up as no gain. Their talent has allowed them to win despite these mistakes, but sloppy play or a slow start against Hoban is asking for trouble. Has the chance to be a great game.

Wow! You really cut me to the quick there! Your continued astute insight into the Hoban-Barberton matchup is matched only by your child-like repetition of the "private school cheaters" mantra! Sounds like you are already lining up your excuses. The real Barberton fans actually think their team can BEAT Hoban! And after watching them dismantle the Irish, I'd have to agree. Looking forward to a great game on Friday.

Does Barberton have many kids that play both ways? Hoban has about 3 that I can think of, just curious what the Magics' numbers are like.

If you're referring to Trotwood, they're in D3.

Barberton just shut down a team that was 10-1 that scored over 35 pts a game. Who is to say that Hoban isnít looking at the same fate Friday night. Iíve got Barberton rolling into State semifinals. Magics 35, Hoban 14.

not sure about that. I do know they will come prepared. I watched them play Medina highland. they are very talented. QB can throw on a dime and a few WR's can catch passes you think can't be caught. Highland did a great job covering them but it didn't matter. Very well coached team. They don't make many mistakes and watch film right there to make adjustments. I'm seeing this game being close and coming down to the last couple minutes. Of course I'm saying that not having seen Hoban play.

Barberton certainly has the horses to do it. But, IMO, their D has a better chance to hold Hoban to 14 than their offense has to score 35 against the Hoban defense. I'm envisioning a 17-14 nail biter although I have no earthly idea who will come out on top. My guess would be that Hoban's experience gives them the slimmest advantage and gets them the win.

Also, no offense to either Brush or Bedford, but I wouldn't read too much into either regional semifinal game.

They don't have many. I would say 5 at Max and they are all skilled players. No big guys play both ways, although I think their oline would be stronger with a few of the dline playing, it makes their defense much better.

I agree ... Barberton will only win in a low scoring game and they have no turnovers ... or big mistakes.

PS - Don't think all Barberton people disrespect private schools ... my best HS memories are the BHS vs STV games. I don't know your new coach, but I really respect your old coach, class act.

Bedford is not Hoban. 10-1 against what? Bedford only beat 1 team with a winning record in the regular season. Hoban and Barberton points scored and allowed are within a a few points. Both averaging over 40 points a game while allowing just around 10 per game. Hoban’s strength of schedule was 9th hardest in D2 while Barberton’s was 64th. St Ignatus scores 17 on Hoban in 1st game of the season. Barberton is not Ignatus. I stand by my previous post 21-14 Hoban

Just looking at the scoring this year. Barberton averages 42 per game and gives up roughly 9 a game while Hoban averages 40 and gives up 8. Man, is this going to be good.

Bedford and Brush were very similar, put up a lot of points in the regular season vs a lot of bad defenses. This will be the best D, best Oline, most speed and most physicality Barberton has faced all year. I think Barberton is really, really good, too. But Hoban has played a lot of elite teams the past 3 seasons (Ed's, Iggy, TCC, DeSales, Trotwood, just to name some), so Barberton's skill is not going to take them by surprise.

He was dressed and ready to play last week, but they didn't end up needing him in there. I would expect he'll be back this week.

Barberton struggled with a small Benedictine team for 3 quarters. Benedictine wore out. Hoban won't ware out. Hoban BIG 42-7
