In School Duals

Does anyone have an in school wrestling dual? I am trying to find out if schools do this and if so how do they do it.

I believe Fairfield ran one last year.

I have always talked about wanting to do it with North College hill.

Here is my idea. Bell 7 or 8 (your last bell)

Tell each kid if you want to get out of class and watch some high school wrestling it costs $2 (almost EVERY kid is going to do that they want out of class)

Sell , drink snacks food as well for them to eat while watching.

You expose the student body to it and make some money for your program as well.

Buckeye Valley and Highland have done this for several years. We have a giant sword that the winning team gets to take home with them. Last year we included the middle schools as well and had a great success. Some school admins aren't a fan of it because of missing class time, but overall it has been successful for both programs.

How did you get the Admin on board? That is the real question?

I am pretty sure that Coach Hoon at Bedford has done this.
Maybe he will see this and chime in.

East Clinton hosted Clermont Northeastern last year and this year we are returning the favor and going there. We went all out last year and everyone seemed to enjoy it. We had the bball cheerleaders leading cheers, band playing pep music, mascot running around and even passed out papers with a "2" on it to every student. One of the assistant coaches had one and would hold it up when appropriate to have the student body raise theirs. Fun time, good for the last day of school before Xmas break and good for the sport.

Lebanon Jr High used to do something like this (they may still). I still remember how awesome it was to wrestle, and thankfully win, in front of the student body.

My suggestion would be a can good or $. Give the profits to a local cause or scholarship fund. Yes I understand you guys need money to fund the program but all it takes is one community member seeing that you're giving back to the community and in exchange they're going to support the team.

And hopefully a few guys decide they want to try the sport

Why would they not be on board? What is the difference between this and a pep rally?
When I was in high school we did our preview during the school day. Every year we have 2 or 3 kids come out after the preview to fill weights where we had forfeits or just because they thought it was cool. We had 1 kid that wrestled in middle school, didnt wrestle freshman- junior year. Senior year saw there was an open spot during the preview at 112 so he asked if he could join. He probably won 15 matches and helped us win at least 3 duals.
There are many benefits in having an event in front of the student body.

I hold a match every year as a fundraiser. Students can donate to cancer research or stay in their final 2 classes prior to winter break. Usually they all end up attending because they do not want to be the only ones sitting in their class.
