Time to update my points. Nate is listed on the roster at 125 (rumor #1), McKenna is a Buckeye (rumor #2) and I'm putting Suraino back in play since that's the buzz right now. I'm giving two choices for tOSU at 141 and 149 (not sure who goes where). For points, I'm giving tOSU a 5th at 141 and 4th at 149 with Hayes at 141 and McKenna at 149. If reversed, I'll give tOSU a 2nd at 141 and an 8th at 149. Things now look like this:

A) PSU with Suriano 143.5 + bonus advantage 11.5 = 155 points
B) PSU w/o Suriano 127.5 + bonus advantage 11.5 = 139 points

A) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 149 and Micah at 157 = 144.5 points
B) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 141, Hayes at 149 and Micah at 157 = 143.5 points

The biggest driver, obviously, is Suriano. If at PSU, their lead (either either 10.5 or 11.5) is double digits but not out of range. If Suraino is at Rutgers, tOSU leead is 5.5 or 2.5. Either way, OSU remains smack in the middle of the hunt, although i"d much prefer to see him at Rutgers.

Obviously, performance will dictate rankings as the season progresses. And shifts in the rankings will make the picture clearer.

To fine tune my points a little more, I'm dropping Suriano from a 2 to a 3 behind two NCAA champs. That leaves it like this:

A) PSU with Suriano 139.5 + bonus advantage 11.5 = 151 points

A) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 149 and Micah at 157 = 144.5 points
B) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 141, Hayes at 149 and Micah at 157 = 143.5 points

So with Suriano at PSU, tOSU is down either 6.5 or 7.5.

So it appears you've now hit on 2 of the 3 rumors.
Nato to 125 and Mckenna to OSU. So far, so good.

Therefore, I'm crunching the numbers and giving you 2 of 3 correct......... which means you have graded out to a 67% (I rounded up) and we all know a 67% is a failing grade.......
So I'm given you an F for Fake News.......
Unless and until we hear Suriano is heading east to Rutgers, at which time I will recalculate.

67% is actually a D on the standard American grading scale.

90-100- A
80-89- B
70-79-C
60-69-D
59 and below- F

Thanks for your input.... will recalculate.... here we go.....

2 of 3 correct = 67

Standard deduct of 8 points for getting scooped on your own story.
(bdhof had no idea Mckenna to OSU was a done deal until the following day. This is the equivalent of cnn having no idea who won prez election until they read about it in the NY Times the following day.)

So let's go back to the number crunching, shall we.......

67 - 8 = 59

So bdhof still has a failing grade with an F for Fake News!!!

He would be 2/2 = 100%

You can't give a grade on the third since there is no answer yet. Once the we have answer then you can give a grade. He will either stay at 100% or drop 67%(rounded up)

I don't know what your issue is with bdhof, but I appreciate what he brings to the board. I don't follow the college scene too closely and value his informed opinion on the scene. I basically only get my college information from here and directly from our alumni who are still actively competing.

Conversely, I am interested in how most of the Ohio boys are doing on the next level and that isn't news that you get in the local newspaper. Of course I like to follow and root for the Buckeyes and of course any of our Ed's boys, but I appreciate any other insights, news, or even just rumors, as they are hard to come by.

As Pope, I've gone out of my way to extend the olive branch to bdhof. While it would be easy to hurl childish insults at bdhof (Big Dumpster Heap Of Fakenews) I refuse to stoop to such levels. And finally, to show there's no hard feelings, I'm not even going to mention that I've kicked his @$$ in every pickem contest!

FRL (Flo Radio Live) says he's still in limbo. He's released his scholarship Money back to PSU but it could be given back to him. His "release" is only to Rutgers, where he'll have to sit a year and lose a year of eligibility per B10 rules. So, he can't wrestle at a non-B10 school for a year and then go to Rutgers as a junior. PSU started school yesterday, but he's not on campus. Technically, he's enrolled but AWOL (not unusual for students to be enrolled but never show up). He's not on their roster. Rutgers starts school September 5th, so this will likely be settled by then or sooner.

Once again I'm fine tuning my points. I thought I used "returning bonus points" for my "bonus advantage" for PSU, but when I recalculated it, it should have been 10.5 and not 11.5. Then I realized that I left off Campbell (1 bonus pt) and McKenna (1.5 bonus pts), so that closes the gap to 8. With Suriano still in limbo, the team score looks like this:

A) PSU with Suriano 141 + bonus advantage 8 = 149 points
B) PSU w/o Suriano 127.5 + bonus advantage 8 = 135.5 points

A) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 149 and Micah at 157 = 144.5 points
B) OSU with Nate at 125, McKenna at 141, Hayes at 149 and Micah at 157 = 143.5 points

So with Suriano at PSU, tOSU is down either 4.5 or 5.5. W/o Suriano, OSU is up 8 or 9.

Deadline for deplorable bdhof final rumor (suriano) fast approaching!

The official deadline for the rumor mill is end of the day Aug 31st. Without OFFICIAL news from PSU or Rutgers, the bdhof "suriano rumor" will be declared more Fake News.

As noted earlier, when numbers are crunched, he will grade out at a 59. Therefore, bdhof will be awarded a failing grade of F.........for more Fake News!

Being desperate for news on Suriano, I've been checking out a PSU forum and it has been silent for over a week on Suraino. I take that as bad news for PSU. Just today I found a Rutgers forum and it is alive and well with opinions, none good for PSU. They seem to know/think that he is done with PSU, and that his last visit was to clear out his stuff there. They aren't convinced that Rutgers is his choice, throwing Hofstra and Rider in on the mix. And they feel certain that this will play out in a week when school starts.

I'm actually a poster on the PSU site. I enjoy reminding them occasionally how tOSU beat PSU in the B10s last year.

And another poster on the Rutgers forum suggested that maybe Nick is waiting on the Waiver appeal. If denied, maybe he goes back to PSU after all rather than losing a year. So, the bottom line is nobody knows anything.

And yet another Rutgers poster claims that he was watching the Rutgers practice yesterday and Nick was practicing with the team. Could be fake news, but if true, does he go back to PSU?

And found another PSU forum, this one more active, that has over 3,000 posts on Suriano (and 350,000 views). Doesn't seem like they're expecting him back. Smart money from this site is Hostra or Rutgers, with Stanford in the running at 3rd.

If the kid is truly homesick, can you see him going 2,500 miles FURTHER from home? I know it's not all about just being homesick and some of it appears to simply be about "fit" and "mesh" with the team. But going across the country won't fix that regardless.

I could see PSU denying the waiver if he were going to say OSU, Iowa, even Minnesota, teams that are really good and can push PSU.

I don't understand why they denied it for Rutgers.

Let the kid go home.

From what I understand, the NCAA rule says you can transfer from D1 school to D1 school, but you have to sit a year. If your school releases you, you don't have to sit a year. The Big 10 rule is that you have to sit a year regardless of whether your school "releases" you or not. Sometimes the Big 10 waives this rule, but it looks like that will not be the case for Suriano.

A couple thoughts on Suriano, though:
1. Classes have started many places. It's weird to not see him anywhere, or have any word.
2. Could we see him 2nd semester exclusively?
3. Could we see him back at PSU, then they throw their support at a Big 10 waiver next year instead of just being passive in the situation?
4. Would Suriano want to lose a year after losing NCAAs last year?

In case you were wondering, the unabridged version of Les Misérables in the original French (slightly shorter in English) is 1,9000 pages. I actually saw the play 8-10 years ago, and have no idea what it was about. Reading about the Suriano saga on PSU and Rutgers wrestling forums brought me back to thinking about Les Misérables. Rather than return to these forums, I began reading Les Misérables this morning. When I finish, I will let everyone know who wins.

Lets say that Suriano sits out the year, will he still have 3 years of eligibility left or will he only have 2? Also not sure if anyone mentioned it on here but Isaiah White transferred to Nebraska. With him now there, does Nebraska qualify 10 to the NCAAs again?
