I saw the Miami vs Xavier game. Miami looked good. Young team and they handled the ball well and really outplayed Xavier. Xavier only got one shot on goal and that was in approx. the last 15 minutes of the game. Great crowd from both sides and definitely filled the stadium there with many people standing and the weather was great.

As for UC and Elon, I watched the live stats. UC scored first from Laura Rose but then it looked like UC lost steam and Elon controlled the rest of the game when it came to the second half going forward. UC had lots of fouls. Saw UC's scrimmages and their play looked liked what last nights live stats showed. http://www.sidearmstats.com/elon/wsoc/scoreboard.aspx

Congrats to Laura Rose Big East Rookie of the week. Great to see her step up and be a scoring threat so quick.

Aug. 20, 2012

CINCINNATI -- After scoring three goals in her first two collegiate matches, University of Cincinnati freshman forward Laura Rose (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) was named the BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

"I think Laura would be the first to tell you that she wouldn't have earned this award without her teammates," said UC head coach Michelle Salmon. "Our backline played great over the weekend. Our midfield did a nice job with distributing the ball and finding Laura in spots where she could make a play. We appreciate the recognition, but this is a team award."

Rose received the honor after amassing six points in a 1-0-1 week for Cincinnati. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal in the 12th minute against Elon on Friday, the Bearcats' only score in a 1-1 draw. Rose also scored twice in a 3-1 victory at N.C. State on Sunday.

Through the first weekend of the season, Rose is tied with Rutgers redshirt junior forward Jonelle Filigno, a member of the 2012 London Olympics bronze-medal Canadian national team, for the conference lead in points and goals scored.

Rose and the Bearcats resume play Sunday with a 1 p.m. match versus Northeastern at Gettler Stadium.

The NC State game by the numbers looked a lot like last year's games in reverse when it was UC with shot and corner advantage but not converting. Guessing UC converted on transition play and that is one way to win. The question can they create more possession and scoring opportunities? Reviewing the weekend's game stats lots of of players seeing the field. Be interesting to see if the pieces fall into place.

Great weekend of soccer at Ball State, in Muncie this weekend.. Loved watching the local ladeez mix it up. Scores WKU 3 Xavier 0, (1st shutoutout for frosh Nikki Hall). WKU 2 NKU 1, (total of 5 fairfield kids between these two teams). And Ball State won both against X and NKU, (not sure the scores).

Sorry, forgot about Evansville. Looking forward to WKU peaking at the end of the season. Exciting new formation is fun to watch. I'm not used to seeing 3 to 4 girls making runs into the box. " Watch out for the Topps "

If the Massey ratings have any value at this early stage of the season it was a mild upset Ö If I were to guess I would think both schools would have a similar RIP by seasons end.

Iím heading out early tomorrow AM to watch Marshall (2-2-0) at Campbell (1-0-1), should be a good match.

OE Alumni Making Immediate Impact

OE Alumni from last year's U18 team are making immediate impact at the college level, including players playing in some big time conferences:

Olivia Jester - Starting in MF and playing 90 in most games for UK
Kim Love- Starting CB for Purdue, named as Big Ten Freshman of the week last week
Emma Lancaster- Starting in MF for Purdue, (3 Assists through 7 games, incl 2 Game Winning Assists)
Abbey Weber - Starting CB for Duquesne
Marisa Wolf- Playing Significant Minutes for Ohio State (1 goal, 1 assist - game winner vs Missouri)
Nikki Hall - Starting in Goal for Western Kentucky
Claire Falknor - Playing significant minutes for Florida (1 goal)
Lana Bonekemper - Playing significant minutes for very good Iowa team
Taylor Walton - Playing significant minutes for Winthrop

Alot to be proud of for these players.

Went to the UD- Depaul game week before this one and was not impressed with U.D.
After 18 years, I think it is time for Coach Tucker to step aside. I beleive that these ladies need someone fresh. Do'nt get me wrong,Coach Tucker has did a great job UD. If and when he steps aside, I beleive he needs to teach the new coAch his technique on recruiting. He has to be one of the best at that. I have always been amazed on how he can get kids from the west coast to come to UD.
My hats off to him for what he has done for this program, but the inconsistancy of his teams of late might be do to being stagnant.
Just my thoughts, could be wrong. After all, to take a quote from our goOd buddy fiftee centy,
IT IS WOMENS SOCCER

That's great but I see at least four players I know of that were not developed by OE, ie. they did not play there until U15 or later. Creating an infrastructure to showcase the players to college coaches is one thing, but developing them from U8-U14 (their formative years) is a whole other thing. Collecting players is not the same as developing them.

Maybe those players you speak of didn't know how to play soccer until they were developed by OESA!
Actually, only one of those players knew how to play!
Futhermore, ask any of those players: Who did more for them, their previous club or OESA?
Most of those girls were glad they made the switch and are proud to be OESA alumni!
