Just curious to see if any schools will be playing in new stadiums next season.

Despite going into its 2nd full season, Euclid Community Stadium will likely have a new name come Fall and seeing that they are removing the temporary seating at Euclid’s old stadium Sparky DiBiasio Stadium where VASJ played their home games, they may be making the switch of decommissioning Sparky for Varsity HS football use.

I like Barberton venue. Not sure how I feel about them putting a rug in there. I get it but call me old school because I like the grass.

I saw Miami Trace was building a new school, which made me wonder if they were also getting a new stadium.

Warren Local and Green High School are building new schools. I think both are getting new fields. Trimble has been upgrading their field. It’s really nice for D7. Athens just passed a 92 million dollar levy. Hopefully add more away seating and upgraded visitors locker rooms

There are BIG things happening in Rocket Country!

Here's an article from The Times-Reporter - https://www.timesreporter.com/news/2...onotton-valley

LEESVILLE
Conotton Valley Union Local Schools won’t be known as Forgotten Valley much longer.

Beginning this summer, the district will start construction on a new $18 million Rocket Center which will be the envy of surrounding communities. The 80,000-square-foot facility will house a gymnasium, eight-lane indoor competition pool, six-lane bowling alley, daycare center, senior center, a walking track, fitness equipment, a cafe and health clinic.

Work is expected to take between 14 and 18 months.

“This will be the center of the community now,” Superintendent Todd Herman said. “It doesn’t matter what your age, whether you’re 2 or 102, there’s something for you to do here. We’re awful excited about that.”

The facility won’t cost taxpayers a dime... in fact, they’ll be paying less.

Money for the project comes from the public utility property tax being levied on the Rover Pipeline, which crosses 15 miles of the Conotton Valley district.

The district will receive $3 million this year and $4.4 million next year. Then the tax will go down about 2 percent to 2.5 percent a year. Herman estimates that Conotton Valley will be receiving money for the next 40 years.

And in a move that no other school district in the area could afford, Conotton Valley is eliminating two levies.

“We’re letting an emergency levy go, which is just over $500,000 a year, and a permanent improvement levy go, which is $140,000 a year,” the superintendent said. “Both of those will fall off after 2019.”

The owner of a house valued at $100,000 will see a $200 a year drop in property taxes.

The daycare center, which will be operated by Conotton Valley staff, will help meet the needs of the district.

“We’ve found that we’re getting kids that are coming to preschool behind,” he said. “So if we provide daycare, we can help educate them and reduce that gap of students coming to preschool behind.”

The medical facility will be about 6,000 square feet, and Herman said district officials hope it will provide primary care and stat care. He noted that residents are about 20 minutes from any kind of medical facility.

“So we’re hoping that we can entice one of the medical partners to come in,” he said. “With rural medicine, it’s important.”

Conotton Valley is also in talks with the Bowerston library to open a branch library in the Rocket Center.

The new center will be separate from the school for security reasons.

With ample funds, the district has been able to start Project Lead the Way for its students, with new courses in architecture and engineering. Work is progressing on a greenhouse for a new horticulture class, and Conotton Valley has introduced a middle school communications class, with the goal of opening a student-run radio station.

The district has built new softball and baseball fields and will be putting turf on its football field this summer. Land has been purchased for additional parking.

“I want our kids to have everything that any other school has, and more,” Herman said.

He anticipates that the number of students attending Conotton Valley will increase through open enrollment, but the district plans to put limits on that number to maintain the small-school feel. The district currently has an enrollment of approximately 450 student for all grades, according to Herman. The OHSAA lists the high school enrollment at 108 students.

The district will have a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31 to inform residents about the project.

The financial picture at Conotton Valley hasn’t always been so rosy.

“There were some lean years for sure,” Herman said. “Even when I was in school in the ’80s, you always heard the rumor that Conotton Valley was going to close. In the early 2000s, there were a lot of tough times. But one of the things that never wavered was the support of the community. We wanted to do something that could benefit our kids and the community, a way to give back.”

If Conotton can raise its academic rating the district would make a good area for a developer to build some homes especially with what should be low property taxes.

(Hamilton) Ross is in the midst of a major upgrade to their football facility-looking to put down turf, revamp the press box and more. Not sure of all the details but they would definitely improve what is there, which is one of the lower-end stadiums in their conference.

Marysville is rebuilding the HS stadium to include turf and create a separate track facility. A turf facility is also being built at the Middle school which has played and practiced on the field where the new HS track complex is being built.

Conceptual figures are at monarchstadiumdrive.com

Construction on the middle school facility was started last fall with the hopes of being complete for this springs track season. Well that did not happen so this season track meets will be away with practice at Delaware Hayes.

They were supposed to start demolition for the new stadium this week (should have started right after week 10) and supposed to be done for football season. The existing bleachers need torn down to shift everything west to make room for the new track complex.

Should be a nice complex when complete.

Psst - who can I call to help route that pipeline through my school district?

As much as it tore the town apart to get a new stadium, I must say St. Marys's new stadium is coming along nicely.

Cincinnati Public Schools is building a new Stargel Stadium diagonally across from the one that was just being used by Taft and some other CPS schools. The previous one has already been torn down to make room for FC Cincinnati's new soccer stadium. There are some doubts whether the new Stargel Stadium will be done in time for football season.

Just, so I understand.

The one behind the stadium is already gone, and that's where the soccer stadium is going? The new HS football field will diagonal from Taft?

I was in the old stadium once. It seemed like a pretty nice facility. The home stands were unique.

FC Cincinnati has a construction cam showing what was Stargel Stadium this past season and what will be their new stadium:

https://www.fccincinnati.com/westend/construction-cam

Instead of being behind the school, the new one will be in front of the school and off to the side. The two stadiums won't be right next to each other, but about a block away from each other. Bidding had taken place, but I don't believe any construction has started.
