If you ask the old guys, Dad's Club never ends. But the first meeting with Coach Ramsey should be 2 weeks from today.

Btw, if Trischler has had 60+ receptions the past 2 years, he’s very close to breaking the School’s reception record, held by Max Mazza (131). He should shatter that record if he stays the course.

Per Elder Sports Archive:
2016 - 60 total receptions (52 reg. season + 8 playoffs)
2017 - 66 total receptions

He's going to have a pretty good shot to tie or break the record Week 1 against Gahanna.

Can someone put up an updated projected starting offense and defense?

Any chance scrimmage gets webcast tonight? Figured it's a long shot but I know there have been a couple broadcasts of home scrimmages the last couple years.

I'd have to watch with it muted so as not to hear the colorful language when something doesn't go Elder's way.

E scores on a 30+ yard swing to Trischler. Offense looked very good to start.

After a pick by the D, Bittner throws another TD. Nice play by the WR who took a big hit but still held on.

Ramsey looking like a jack azz for complaining about retaining possession after a muffed punt. Anyway, Johnson breaks a 50 yd TD before half. 28-0 E

Thoughts after 1st Half

- Bittner is really, really good
- The OL is big and physical. Great at Run Blocking and pass blocking sans missed assignments on one series
- Massminster and Johnson ran the ball extremely well. Good vision
- Bono is a stud, but the Run D wasn’t very good w/ Klingenbeck at NT. He’s just not heavy enough to take on blocks from interior Linemen
- The Secondary played decent, still not a strength of the team
- Kicking game is very strong. I think Ammon is doing both the Kicking and Punting
- Mason is ok, good enough to sneak in the playoffs playing in the GMC. However, they’d be the worst team on E’s schedule.
- Is it too much to ask to get practice jerseys w/ #s?

Mason leaving their first string in vs Elder’s 2nd. Scores on a long TD Pass.

Are you just trolling or would Football North really be better than them??

Isn’t Football North decent? A few yrs ago, they played Pick Central and LS tough. That’s assuming, I’m thinking of the correct team

Anyways, I left after Elder's 2nd string scored at the beg of the 4th. Final thoughts:

Offense: Overall excellent, sans one errant snap on 4th & Goal. They pretty much moved the ball at will. Bittner can sling it. His 3rd TD pass was extremely impressive. The WRs were solid, as always. The OL is big and was very good run blocking and in Pass Protection. Massminster and Johnson had great games running the ball.

Defense: Played fairly well on the whole. Bono is great, nobody could block him. The Secondary made same nice plays coming up with 2 picks. Mason was only able to move the ball when Klingebeck was at NT. This isn't meant as a slight vs Klingebeck, he's a decent DE, but 225 lbs is far too light for a NT in a 3-4. He's outweighed by 50-70 lbs in most cases. Tolbert isn't as athletic or agile, but he can take on blocks, which is all you need from at that position. The LBs were ok. Hard to tell who was who out there.

Special Teams: Ammon is a nice weapon as a Kicker. I think half of his kick offs reached the end zone. PATs were all made with ease. He's not quite as strong in the Punting game as he is Kicking, but he's good enough to get the job done.

Even if Mason is an avg team, this was still a good showing by Elder.

Worse than you when you went off on the ref and Dabbelt last year? That was pretty weird.

I never went off on Dabbelt. And both coaches looked foolish yelling at each other mid field in a scrimmage. Mason looked pretty stupid celebrating that TD after they left their 1st String in vs Elder’s 2nd team.

They aren’t winning anything if they don’t get the NT issue fixed. Good teams will put up 200+ yards on the ground vs them. IMO, it’s a fatal flaw, like 2 yrs ago when they had a 210 lb kid at OT.

Otherwise, Elder looked extremely good in all phases of the game.

Newsflash - teams are going to score against them. The other team has good players too. It was a great start to the season. Exactly what you would hope for in the first scrimmage. Go with that.

They likely had plenty of different looks and personnel out there to feel out their players. You must always complain about something.

I guess the freshman played the QB you wanted as you haven't gone into complete meltdown mode.

Mason isn’t very good, they lost a lot from last year. As I said before, Elder looked good in all other phases. And this is a correctable issue, when Tolbert rotated in at NT, Mason did not get anything b/w the Tackles. The Offense was excellent all around. The only reason they didn’t score on all 7 of their possessions were bc of a bad snap on 4th and Goal and a dropped 3rd Down Pass.

And I didn’t see the Frosh Scrimmage. Heard they were rotating QBs in practice, which is fine, but they better pick one before the season. It should be Hambleton, the other two are only getting a shot bc of their dads.

That's the Mason coach. He will leave the first team in blow out against your third team. Mason was decent the last 3 years but lost a lot of talent. They should have the numbers to recover.

They had decent size on the lines and their QB seemed like a solid pocket passer, but not much skill talent around him. They seem like a middle of the pack GMC team. Again, at best, they’re the 9th hardest opponent on Elder’s schedule.

I will say, Elder’s OL put on impressive showing by any standard. They had one series where some guys missed assignments, but on the whole, they dominated a good sized Mason DL. Bittner had tons of time to throw, and they opened massive holes for Massminster and Johnson.I know they don’t keep stats in scrimmages, but both backs had to avg over 10 Yards per carry.
