Question OFFICIAL "Pseudo GMC Championship": Colerain (5-1, 3-0) vs. Lakota West (4-2, 3-0)

Well, here we are. Another mid-season matchup between the Firebirds and the Cardinals that will "most likely" decide the GMC Championship. The game details:

Who: Colerain (5-1, 3-0) vs. Lakota West (4-2, 3-0)
What: Week 7, 2015
When: Friday Oct. 9 @ 7:00 PM
Where: The Cage @ Colerain High School

This game always seems to be a lot more exciting that people think it will be when discussing it the week before. Below are the last 5 match-ups between these two schools:

2014: Colerain 30 - Lakota West 21 @ West
2012: Colerain 57 - Lakota West 44 @ Colerain
2011: Colerain 24 - Lakota West 19 @ West
2010: Colerain 56 - Lakota West 14 @ Colerain
2008: Colerain 35 - Lakota West 13 @ West

The Cardinals bring their patented Triple-Option offense which has been running on all cylinders the past two weeks to the table while the Firebirds bring a balanced offense with over 1,000 yards on the ground and 800 yards through the air.

Former Cardinal Tony White (Jr.) leads the West offense and brother of former Cardinal great LA Ramsby, Alssan Ramsby (Jr.) leads the defense for Lakota West.

Will the atmosphere at Colerain favor the Cards? (Uh, yeah!)
Can Lakota West find a way to penetrate the Colerain "D" consistently?
Can Colerain offense continue to grow together and continue the consistency they've experienced recently?
Who will be the "X" factor for each team?

Pick your winner and margin, then share your thoughts.

West's only 2 losses come to power houses in Elder and Wayne. Outside of those two losses their defense has been decent. Colerain's lone loss came , well, never mind. The common opponent is Middletown with similar results. Both teams are on a 3 game win streak. Colerain giving up 14 ppg and West giving up 19 ppg.
This is a critical win for both teams.
With stats be comparable I will go with coaching and pick the Cards!
Colerain 31 / West 17

I don't see West's D having the necessary speed to contain Jones. I see him having another big game.

Well said! Absolutely must have the no-prize!

In the spirit of Tofer's "throwback" no-prizes, this week's winner will get a 2016 family pass to Surf Cincinnati and a $25 GC to the Ground Round!

It's a lot to not give away, but this is a big game and someone deserves to pretend to win nothing at all!!

You are alive!!! Thank God tofer...many thought you had finally hit the eject button on your Yappi career. Or so they had hoped!

Hope you are still keeping up with our Cards and will be a bigger presence in the coming weeks.

Philly Cat is a Lakota guy as well.

There have never been many West fans here. No idea why.

At least the past three meetings we've moved forward complete curbstompings to somewhat competitive games.

Nice to see you guys finally return the favor and give us back a QB. Most gentlemanly of y'all.

Yea, I'm a Lakota fan grounded in reality lol

Not saying you aren't, fish. Just saying West doesn't impress me and I don't think this game will be close at any point.

Oh, believe me...I've been driving the Reality Bus for the past 10 years lol.

Hopefully we decide to show up and make somewhat a game of it....but like I said, the defense just doesn't match up with Colerain's speed on the edge at all.

I picked the more than 14 choice, but I wouldn't bet on it.
This game has a good chance of being much closer.

Game could be at Lakota, Paul Brown, Nippert, Ohio State, or in Stark County and the results would not change.

History dictates that this game will not be a blow-out. Add a touchdown since game is at Colerain. The GMC endless buffet continues for the Cards.

Who is the threat after Deshaunte and Monalo? There has always been a true 3rd threat in this offense when they were at their best.

Can Zach Johnson be that guy or is it the vertical impact of the young Gunnar L.?

I think the threat that is missing is a tight end that can catch the ball.

I agree that a 3rd threat is needed, but maybe options one and two have been effective in recent weeks that they have not needed to stretch that far out?

Teams with solid speed and discipline at linebacker will attack the LOS better and maybe require the flanker pitch to be used more frequently, especially come November. QB has feasted the past few weeks on his reads and I think the dive has been effective as the game has worn on and the opposing D starts to run out of gas. Tackling Caldwell all night would get pretty old I have a feeling. Having a tight end with soft hands to stretch the field a few times a game would be a nice weapon to have in the arsenal!

Colerain last lost a GMC game in week 7 of the 2008 season @ Middletown, 42-39.

Colerain's last loss to a GMC team at home was week 7 of the 1999 season vs. Lakota East, 28-25.

That game was actually at East. The Cards were so thin at running back that Maurice Johnson was playing as a freshman.

The season is correct though-it was 1999, in a 14-3 home loss to Lakota West.
