Maybe they want to open up left field for Senzel?
OF course Peraza will get the nod at SS first. How else will he stink it up again if he isn't playing? This is also why I said Senzel will be in the lineup MAY 1st.

Peraza will be given a month to earn/keep the job. Senzel will start at Louisville to keep super 2 him.

I don't think the Reds will make any trades until July unless they get a stellar offer back. This offense is good. Really good. I think the Reds will see how the young rotation is doing by July before deciding on whether or not to trade Gennett, Hamilton, or Duvall or anyone else.

Based on comments made by ownership and front office it sounds like they think this team can be pretty good. We'll see.

Possibly, but I can't imagine they'll pull the plug 25 games into the season. At least they gave Tony Perez 44 games before they canned him! I think Senzel needs to see 1/2 season or more in Triple A.

He doesn't NEED to see AAA at all. The Reds may leave him there just to buy time but it won't be because he NEEDS it.

If Peraza is stinking it up in April it won't be just 25 games. He stunk it up all last season as well.

I hope Peraza plays well but my expectations aren't real high that he will.

Indiandad, I don't know how old you are, but do you remember a kid named Brandon Larson? Played for the Reds in the early 2000's. He was a first round pick out of LSU, can't miss prospect...third baseman as well. Over 4 major league seasons with the Reds, played in 109 games, hit .179, 8 home runs, 37 RBI.
Minor league stats...11 seasons, 773 games, .282 BA, 153 home runs, 529 RBI.

Now it's not fair for me to saddle Senzel with Larson's career, but all I'm saying is hitting in the bigs isn't like the minors. Pump the brakes...

Larson hit the cover off the ball in AAA. It didn't do much for him at the big league level.

The two are not comparable.

I have no idea how it's not comparable??? It's very comparable. Let's see if the kid can hit Triple A pitching for more than two weeks before we declare him Joey Votto-like.

If we are to use 14Red's excellent talent evaluation, I think the Reds should laugh at any offer that doesn't include Madison Bumgarner, Christian Arroyo and Tyler Beede. That's the minimum starting point. If those three aren't included for Billy straight up, I don't want any part of the deal.

Their farm system is pretty weak and I don't think they will be offering anyone of real value imo

Ive never seen him pitch in the playoffs but my eye test tells me he would fail under the pressure of playoff baseball

Adam Duvall was ranked 25th in the Giants farm system when he came over with Kelly Mella (ranked 1st) in the Mike Leake trade.

I'd take another Duvall.

Larson smoked the ball in AAA. It did nothing for him at the bigs.

Senzel doesn't NEED AAA.

Everybody knows Hunter Pence was the key behind those great Giants teams. Bumgarner was mostly an accessory. That's why everyone calls him MadBum, because he's a bum.

It was reported recently that Suarez is looking for a 6 year $45M extension.

Any thoughts on this?

I met Hunter Greene at Reds Fest. What a great guy! I think he is going to be a franchise guy on and off the field. I hope we get to see him sooner rather than later.

If the Reds trade Hamilton to the Giants and don't get a major league ready CF in return, they'll be in the market for one. Schebler/ Winker/ Duval...none can play CF full time.

The Reds would be smart to have a very high asking price and see if they get lucky. If not, hang out to Hamilton until the trade deadline when teams get desperate for situational players.

Can't make this stuff up, the Japanese kid who signed with the Angles last week, the great hitter/ pitcher....has an elbow injury. HA!! How 2017 of him. Thank goodness he didn't want to play for a small market team in the midwest.
