One thing that I haven't see discussed regarding the Warriors-Spurs series: coaching. Mike Brown vs. Pop. Advantage? seems obvious to me.

Anyone want to chime in on the Zaza/Leonard incident? To me it looked completely accidental, but the internet is saying differently.

I thought it was pretty funny that Jalen Rose admitted on national TV that he had pulled the same undercut move when closing out too late on Kobe Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Like most questionable moves, it definitely looks worse in slo-mo. Zaza looked pretty centered over his feet when he hopped sideways under Leonard, so it didn't really look like his momentum made it unavoidable, though. European bigs also have a bit of dirty play baked right in to their game. It's hard to say he intended to re-injury Leonard, but it's also not looking like something he needed to do to keep his balance.

Leonard says it wasn't dirty. That's good enough for me.

Bruce Bowen was well known for stepping in under Kobe.

Nope. Utah lacking starting PG George Hill helped, and Kawhi's injury makes this series a 4 or 5 gamer, but they still lose 3 or 4 to the Cavs.

I don't think the Zaza / Kawhi play was 'dirty' in terms of intent to injure, but it is an unsafe play and a foul to step under a jump shooter.

This is how Kobe and Curry have gotten hurt in the past also. Would not be surprised to see the league change a rule in the off season to make the penalty more severe for stepping under a jump shooter. Maybe foul shots plus the ball like a flagrant. Just to try to cut down injuries.

Good to hear Leonard come our right away and strike it down. That's the Spurs and their classy ways. Many other stars should take the lead from the Spurs...

That said, Leonard had - a few minutes early, stepped back and rolled his ankle on one of his teammates on the bench. This is important for two reasons. 1. He's got bad ankles, he's rolled his ankles a couple of times in the last few weeks. 2. it was a corner shot, again right in front of his bench. Could he have been thinking about not rolling his ankle again on a teammate and come down differently from normal, on opt of Zaza's foot?

As far as the series, I won't say the Spurs don't have a chance because I still can't believe they beat the Rockets with out Parker and Leonard. But this is going to be tough. Green/ Ginobili/ Murray / Mills are now suddenly primary scorers, and they are typically secondary help.

Funny that Rose admitted it, but not surprising. He was a dirty player and quite frankly, a very over rated player.

I thought Jalen Rose was always pretty appropriately rated. He was a pretty good scorer, and that's what his reputation is.

Leonard said he would have to look at the play. Given his eyes were on the hoop and not Zaza, there's really no way for him to know without watching it happen.

I'm not sure I'd say he has bad ankles. Other than his hand breaking a few years ago I don't remember him having many injury issues.

I think the consensus coming out of Michigan with all the accolades and success that he'd be the same kind of pro.

I am going to back track a little though, looking at his career, he did actually have 6 seasons where he averaged 18 or more points per game. He was always just good enough to get traded, but never be a franchise type player. Pretty solid career overall.

Yeah, he was a good 2nd offensive option for a good stretch of years.

He was never the best player on his team at Michigan and was drafted outside the lottery. No one thought he'd be a franchise player, except you obviously. He was a solid player and pretty much regarded as such. Definitely not overrated.
