Division IV - MaxPrep vs. who is left

A coach sent this to me. On March 7th he went on MaxPreps and printed the top 18 teams. Peebles is the only team that wasn't in the top 18 that has survived.
2,3,4,5,7,8 and 14 are still alive. Not sure if that is impressive or not.

That is interesting to see.

You should have 4 teams off that list in the final 4. I would be SHOCKED if Peebles beat Hiland tonight.

I would say....
Cornerstone over St. Pete by 14
Marion Local over Fort Loramie by 9
Crestview over Pandora by 12
Hiland over Peebles by 13

Which is a greater predictor of success in the top 18 -
MaxPrep ranking, Strength of Schedule or AP Ranking?
Berlin Hiland might make a case for Strength of Schedule, look at theirs compared to who they beat. Is that why they came out of the East?

The strength of schedule on Max Preps can't be trusted. Not every team has their schedule put in. Scores are wrong on their....to many accuracy errors for my liking.

You bring up valid points, but I have followed the power rankings accuracy vs poll accuracy for several years. Even with many of the innacurate numbers, Max preps does a better job predicting an outcome than virtually any human poll. Here in Southwest Ohio Vamps takes great pains to be accurate with his entered data and the result is an accuracy of 80+ percent.

Many times injuries are a huge factor in predicting an outcome based on a power rating. If school Ad4 just lost their top scorer the game before they play school Bd4 the power rating may be scewed in favor of team Ad4 based on past results.

Another factor power ratings do not consider is emotional motivation. I see power ratings kind of like the Billy Bean method vs the eyeball and intelligent observation based on prior knowledge method.

Maybe your to close to the forest? I may be all wrong but to me if the zebras let them play, Marion by 9 is about right on. If however, they call it tight, I would favor Loramie. Being a regional final, I bet they let em play. Flyers by 3.

I also believe Marion Local will defeat Fort Loramie, as long as the Flyers are healthy.

A particular Flyer is nursing an injury - how well he can handle the ball and shoot is unknown (at least to me).

But if he's good to go, I like the Flyers' chances.

If it is Nate Bruns ML has little chance of winning.

Trust me I hope Flyers win, but these 2 teams met earlier in the year and FL won by 12. FL has the size and physicality to play with ML, but also have players who can shoot from 3 pt. land something ML lacks. IMO ML's best chance of winning is by playing their 1-3-1 defense, with the Flyers length it really disrupts the passing lanes.

Hiland beat Peebles 63-31. Played about as well as they can play.

I don't see anyone beating Marion Local now. They have the size and defense to clamp down on anyone.

PG looked very good against Crestview and Cornerstone is suppose to be a powerhouse, and Hiland has been to state several times. Think Cornerstone is the favorite but believe all 4 teams have a good shot at winning it all.

I thought Mescher was the best player in the MAC? You aren't worried about his health but rather Bruns?

Cornerstone is the favorite, but anything can happen

CJK84 mentioned the player injured may have trouble dribbling the bball, so I knew he was probably talking about a guard.
