AAC Tiers

Just found out something about the conference scheduling that might be common knowledge but was news to me. Schools can request to "float" between tiers depending on what they think there talent level might be. Have a great Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball team and your in the white tier, you can request to play up. Jefferson is doing this with Volleyball this year, playing up, and also with Soccer where they are playing down. Applies to every sport except Football was my understanding.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is if they float down, they are not eligible to win the conference title that year. The float down option was for struggling programs to be able to compete on the field instead of getting destroyed weekly by schools they can not compete with. Float up is eligible for conference title for obvious reasons. This was to allow programs to play bigger schools and prepare for post season play in sports where all schools make the tournament.

If that is true, as explained to me, then I am ok with it and applaud schools who choose to play up.
