Biggest question is whether StV moves up. Not sure what their recruiting class is looking like this year. Will have to wait and see how the out of state recruits fit in before the in state kids make their decisions.

It's going to be real close if VASJ stays D3 or moves up to D2.

The in state kids are pretty much completed. It's an impressive list to say the least, but next years class is the one that will be ridiculous with talent.

If they go D2 it could be a good regional with them and St V.

Is that a guess or do you have inside information since the breakdown won't be released until Tuesday?

I have to claim ignorance on the comp balance numbers.....the number will be different for football and basketball for each school? I know football numbers have been out for awhile.

^^^ Correct. The CB numbers are based off the previous year's roster, which will obviously be different for basketball than it was for football.

This makes me think the CB adjustments won't be nearly as great in basketball simply because the rosters are almost always going to be smaller than in football.

Don't forget that the Tier 2 multiplier for basketball is 5 as opposed to 2 for football.

Here are a couple comments from the OHSAA yesterday concerning the breakdown to be released next week -

"23 boys BK teams moved up a division because of Competitive Balance."

"34 boys BK teams moved up a division because of Base enrollment numbers."

As said, the equation for getting a schools comp balance number is different for some sports so it can be anywhere.

I don't know if St. V moved up or not, but here's what I do know:

Snodgrass' tweet indicates that the DI cut-off is 362.
St. V's base enrollment for this cycle is 251.
Snodgrass' tweet also indicates that there are 77 schools in the NE that will be DI.
71 schools in the NE will be in DI on base enrollment alone.
On base enrollment alone, the 77th school in the NE had 337 boys. Private schools like Hoban, Lake Catholic, University School, and Padua are also sitting in that gap between St. V's base enrollment of 251 and the 77th team's base enrollment of 337.

It'll be close, but my gut feeling is that St. V. will remain in DII.

Yep. Ben Holt, former assistant at several local schools including Triway, and was most recently the head coach at Dalton.

I spoke with someone over the weekend who I think you'd say is a credible source. I asked about a few schools and had some surprising answers. Africentric girls did not move, while their boys did. Also talked about VASJ and others.

Taking that info and applying it to the SW District...

52 teams last year, 52 teams this year....

Glen Este & Amelia have merged to form West Clermont this year (-1)

Mt. Healthy & Western Brown have moved up to D1 for sure just on base enrollment alone (+2)

Wilmington, Bellefontaine, Greenville, West Carollton have moved down based only upon base enrollment (-4)

Those 4 school had a very small CB Football number.

So we still need 3 schools to move back up to D1 to achieve the 52 teams.

Trotwood is sitting at 361 base (but somehow had a 0 football CB)
Wilmington 354
West Carollton 354
Franklin 352
Bellefontaine 346
Goshen 337
Ross 336
Bellbrook 324
Carroll 323
Greenville 315
Woodward 307

Would have to think the 3 schools have to come from that group, the basketball CBs are going to be smaller just based on smaller roster sizes, going to be hard to make a 60+ jump, I would think.

That is because Trotwood is a closed enrollment school. Same as Wayne.

Nope. I didn't say that. And its not a requirement according to CB. The first question is do they currently live within your district...if "YES" then their CB number is 0.

Look at the CB rules. If they live in the district (i.e. move in) they count as a zero. Since these are closed district schools that is supposed to be the only way they can get transfers is if they move in. But I seem to remember Wayne allowing people to pay tuition to attend but still live outside the district. Don't if that is old or current though.

If I recall correctly, for football, STVM would have moved down a division based on enrollment numbers, but were moved up a division due to CB; thereby basically zeroing out and remaining in the same division as last year. I don't know if the same metric is in play here to keep the Irish as D2 in basketball.

Has anybody heard anything? I am real curious about Columbus which already had 55 plus teams that are DI. It will be interesting how this shakes up

I saw a tweet that said an email had been sent out, which told some media members that the announcement would now be coming out on Thursday. Ugh.
