3-2 US now, would be hilarious if Martinique tied it back up.

Even though it was the US "B" and "C" team they should of won by a bigger margin. The "A" team would of rolled them. It was still enough to put the US on top of the group with 1 match to go..... just need to best Nicaragua by more than Panama beats Martinique...

Why doesn't the top countries take this tourney seriously?

World Cup Qualifying. The European players need the break so are not called up for it.

I'm not sure why they bothered having a referee on the pitch tonight. He was terrible. I'd be very surprised if he retains his license at that level. I would only have him working rec league games.

Anybody watching the Gold Cup final? Maybe it's just me, but game officials haven't impressed me much this tournament.

Firing Klinsmann is looking like a fairly smart move

Saw the last 15 minutes, while not a big International Tournament it was nice to be able to hoist any trophy at this point.

Interesting times for the USMNT. There are some young players that are starting to make their mark and we should hopefully see more US born players in the better Euro leagues playing at the highest level and getting better because of it. They still lack the depth though to move from the top 20-30 and up into the top 10 and while Arena has helped stabilize the ship I am not sure he is the long term answer after this World Cup cycle either. Speaking of the World Cup, next big match will be in early September when Costa Rica brings their A team to NJ for a key qualifier.

What is the next international tournament?

US must get it done at home in qualifying as well as a huge game at Honduras.

Very exciting game last night. Feel bad for the goalie that got hurt.

Once jamaica equalized it was a very entertaining back and forth game.

Both teams had a couple very solid chances. A couple posts and a couple really nice saves.

Zardes coming on in the 76th minute was the difference for the US.

Kudos to the backup keeper from Jamaica. He was fantastic.

Now that the Gold Cup is over, the next competitive tournament is.... World Cup 2018. Curious who the starters will be, as well as impact subs.

I think you have a couple of "Locks" as starters assuming they are healthy.
In this group I'd have Pulisic, Bradley, Cameron, Brooks, F. Johnson, Yedlin, and Howard. Within this group, Pulisic could line up on a wing or in the center behind the striker, Cameron could be a CB or alongside Bradley, and F. Johnson could be the LB or a wide midfielder.

Players just on the fringes that aren't assured a starting spot or are battling with one or two other players: Nagbe, Altidore, Wood, Besler, Dempsey, Morris, Gonzalez.

Then those on the outside looking in: Zardes, Zusi, Villafana, Acosta, Arriola
My preferred lineup and formation:

Wood Altidore
Pulisic
Nagbe Bradley
F. Johnson Yedlin
Besler Cameron Gonzalez
Howard

Any other thoughts or opinions?

Certainly a little easier with arena around

With Klinsmann it was always a mystery

I prefer a classic 4 man back line and would insert Brooks next to Cameron to give the US a solid center back combo in front of Howard. As for the right and left backs, I would go with the hot players out of Johnson, Besler, Gonzales, and Yedlin. I would then pull back Bradley to become the holding Middle and have Nagbe and ??? on the attacking wings with Pulisic the offensive link in the middle. Wood and Altidore up top with Dempsey the 1st off the bench for an offensive spark.

The player I do not know what to do with is Morris. Guy seems to be in the center of everything; usually it is not just the good but also the bad.

The only reason I had the 5 at the back lineup is because it is what Arena used in the only "Real" away match recently (Mexico at Azteca). It worked REALLY well too. Would not be shocked to see it employed again in the World Cup against a similar level of competition. I also think that helps to get our best 11 on the field. Along with having Yedlin and F Johnson as wing backs, playing into their strengths

**Edit: Just realized I omitted Brooks from the starting lineup in my original post. Insert him for Gonzales/Besler

Amazing feat for FC Cincinnati. I thought they would be very likely to lose in Miami considering their so-so away form and Miami's explosive attack.

NY Red Bulls are arguably the hottest team in the entire country over the past 2 months winning 6 matches in a row and their last 3 by a score of 12-1. They'll be FCC's biggest challenge yet imo.

Christian Pulisic had a great start to the season, hope he caries it over to WCQ in a couple weeks.

US misses the World Cup; cannot beat f'ing Trinidad and Tobago in a must win scenario. Wow

Pulisic will already be 23 by the next WC, if they can even qualify for it. Just terrible

Netherlands is already out and Argentina could miss too, which means no Messi. That's in addition to the WC being in Russia, plus the 2022 WC in Qatar will probably be taken away in the next year or so. So FIFA is doing great

Argentina qualified. US needed a win at T&T, and blew it. It never should've come down to the final game. It's as simple as that.

Is it too late to try the expanded World Cup for 2018?

Just updated FIFA 18. USA now a 1.5 star team and Michael Bradley's rating is a 62. Chris Wondolowski is a 48 on the bench.

Wow, just played against someone who had Mozambique and I lose 4 to 1 with Team USA.

First time I've ever lost in FIFA.

Not really that far away tbh, they are like a 2.5 star team at best. Pulisic is like a 78 and then everybody else is a 67.
