Wind River. If you liked Hell or High Water & Sicario(from the same writer) you'll like this one.

Nocturnal Animals: 5/8

Wow, I haven't seen a move like this in a long time. Maybe ever? This movie elicits a reaction from you from the very opening credits. It won't be a comfortable reaction, but it definitelly gets you.

The movie itself is very moving and compelling with great acting (from a loaded cast). I knock it a little in the score because I didn't care for the ending. I get it after reading some reviews online, I just don't necessarily like it, though I guess it should be expected. It's a very sophisticated (not sure that's the exact word I'd used, but I can't find a word that fits better, maybe artistic?) ending for a very sophisticated movie.

The film stars Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, and Michael Sheen.

I have been planning on seeing this but couldn't make it this weekend. Since it is at an "art house" here, I am afraid it won't be here long. I hope to see it next week.

Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid - 5.5/8.0

Thought I'd watch this a second time. Was probably better the first time around though. Great scenery, good music (Burt Bacharach), horses and guns, a pretty lady (Katherine Ross), but no scruffy dog - that I remember. (-.5 point) Paul Newman, Robert Redford

I watched Paul Newman today also; The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972). Funny and fun film to watch as Newman portrayed the only "Law West of the Pecos". Sound track kinda sucked, even though the main song won an Academy Award. But the action, Newman's acting and the larger than life character of the "Hanging Judge" made for a very entertaining film. A young Victoria Principal was also nice to look at.

Nominated, didn't win. Poseiden Adventure (Morning After) and Cabaret won. Marmalade whatever, sucked. Nominated because of Andy Williams I would presume.

Thanks East. I stand corrected. I see that Ben was nominated that year as well. That was the best love directed to a rodent ever. If we did not already know that something was wrong with Michael Jackson, we should have figured it out by then.

Be grateful the song wasn't "Ben, the Morning After."

The Ninth Guest (1934)

Horror: 8 strangers are invited to a penthouse and find themselves locked in as the host claims that each of them will systematically die unless they can outwit the host.... 4.0/8

Mississippi River Sharks (2017)

Horror: A fishing competition gets a bit complicated when Bull Sharks invade the river. Yes, this is one of those over the top SciFy channel movies that actually wasn't that bad.... well, the first half that is... 2nd half... sank.... 3.0/8

From Beyond The Grave (UK-1974)

Horror: A shop owner sells antiques to customers in this anthology of horror. The first two stories were pretty good.... 4.0/8

Nocturne (2016)

Horror: Group of friends, a seance, dirty secrets, die die die.... ok, something like that... This one goes down as the norm, starts out pretty good but then disappoints... 4.0/8

Incarnate (2016)

Horror: A boy becomes possessed and a man who can get into the mind of those possessed to evict the spirit comes to help... This one was a bit more interesting ... 4.5/8

Ouija 2: Origin of Evil (2016)

Horror: A woman who fakes readings discovers that her young daughter has the ability after they purchase a Ouija board. Finally, this was one of the better ones other than some silly effects.... 5.5/8

Saw it tonight and thought it was great. Renner was badass as usual. The neo-western crime thriller is by far my favorite movie genre so I'm usually pretty easy to please, but I thought this one was especially good. Need to watch Hell or High Water again

And it's also funny that Elizabeth Olsen turned out to be way hotter and more talented than both of her sisters. That sweater made her tits look phenomenal

It's still showing like 6 or 7 times a day at Western Hills 14 if you haven't seen it yet.

Office Christmas Party: 5/8

Nothing incredible, but it will be a fun movie for 2 hours.

Marvel's Inhumans: 5.5/8

Not really a movie, as this is the first two hours of the upcoming TV series in Imax theaters. I thought it was very good for a TV show, some minor issues with some dialogue and 1 or 2 performances, but enjoyable overall. Probably didn't need to be seen in Imax, but I had the day off and thought I'd check it out. Worth checking out on TV 9/29 if you're into the superhero genre.

2/8 Their Finest. I've posted before my enjoyment of WWII homefront movies, particularly British so this seemed to fit the bill. Amd it was going great.... I realize it was based upon a book and had certain plot points to follow but I didn't know those points. Never saw a movie so quickly go from a 6 to a 2. Matter of seconds.

Drive - 7/8 awesome movie.

Creed - 3.5/8. Wasn't really that into the movie to begin with and turned it off halfway through. Creed could not have been a more boring character. Maybe I'll pick it up later. But what I did see, sucked.

"Portrait Of Jennie" (1948) - 6.5/8

Starring Joseph Cotten, Jennifer Jones, a young (and singing) David Wayne, Ethel Barrimore as an unrequited spinster/art gallery owner, and Lillian Gish as a nun.

Had seen the first half of this a few years ago, had to leave early. I was hooked. Finally caught the whole thing a week or so ago. A chick-flick for real men. Jennifer Jones is gorgeous, and Cotten loves her with a love that inspires him to be the success he was meant to be.

Think "Affair To Remember" meets "The Lake House", and set it in "The Twilight Zone".
