Tragic. I believe mosquitos are a concern, too.

Our Ft. Myers/Naples office is open, but we have been instructed to keep all communication to an absolute minimum (telephone, email, text) because of the scarce resources. No bad news (as of yet) from our team there.

I see the remnants Irma has reached Ohio and may come back our way in NC just in time for weekend football.

From the article:

Apeler told officers that he was moving the pole because it was laying on the ground close to lanes of traffic.

The pole was valued at $2,500.

Officers did a pawn database search and learned that Apeler had 72 scrap metal-related transactions since January.

He was arrested and charged with grand theft.

Waller was also arrested and charged with grand theft.

Also hilarious how they didn't forget to tie a rag to the end of the pole. Nice of them to keep other motorists' safety in mind

I like how the cops left them cuffed by the side of the road so the passing motorists could all slow down and see who the perps where.

...dude had 72 scrap metal transactions since January??? I'd be looking at other cases of missing metal owned by the city & state such as street signs and stop signs, more telephone poles... he may be that guy!

And, the places who accepted metal from him, too.

Sad to see guys who should be in the productive prime of their lives screwing up. There is always hope - if they want to change, that is...

Around here we call that "small business." Economy hasn't been the same since they busted the chop shop.
