Bengals declined Adam Jones’ option. He’s now a ufa. Odds they resign him as a nickel back? I’d guess, pretty high.

Definitely a deeper draft for RB than for WR.
He's going to look great with Gordon.

I would rather have a WR who runs down the field, Landry [112 catches and you don't get a 1,000yds, 2nd to last among the top 25 WR in 1st down % wtf?] was great at the getting the ball a couple of yds from the line of scrimmage when the other team team is in a prevent defense.

Yeah, I’ve never been impressed with Landry. Nice possession guy, but not a game changer.

That, IMO, is as more a function of the offense around him. He ran what they called. Even if he isn't a yac guy, more time, better deep receiver threats on his side and a better scheme will translate to plenty of first downs. You'll see, twice a year.

With the Browns cap situation, not really an issue.

I like the thought of a single-season catches leader and a single-season yardage leader on the field together, don't you ? Could be 1 and 1A as far as I'm concerned. You can assign the labels if they matter to you.

I read one piece yesterday that suggested in passing that the Browns could pick up Pac. Add him to Boddy-Calhoun, now Randall, and a draft pick of Minkah Fitzpatrick and maybe Garrett and Ogbah get the extra half second to get home a lot more often ?

This old article adds credence to the thought. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/inde...nd_browns.html

Quote:
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- With the exception of two regular season games, Adam "PacMan" Jones roots for the success of the Cleveland Browns and his former coach, Hue Jackson.

Jones, a cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals, developed a relationship so close with Jackson that he considers him a father figure.

The relationship developed when Jackson was an assistant coach with the Bengals from 2012-16. Jackson became one of the few men the mercurial Jones trusted.

"I miss him as a person," Jones told The Plain Dealer during training camp. "Hue and I had a father and son relationship. We still talk at least once or twice a week to check up on each other. He treats me as his son. I love him as a person. The only time I'm against him is when [the Bengals] are playing against [the Browns]."
I have to wonder about Jones and Williams together, though. Two pretty strong personalities.

Very unlikely fa help is on the way...

The Cincinnati Bengals once again don’t figure to be big spenders in free agency this year.

Despite major needs along the offensive line and having north of $30 million in cap space, not to mention cash rolled over, the Bengals don’t sound like a team ready to spend on a high-quality starter.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Paul Dehner Jr., the Bengals see themselves spending only $15 million, if that:

“After taking into consideration all the extras that go into the salary cap from a Bengals perspective and telling Adam Jones they are declining his option the team sees about $15M in 2018 cap hits to work with on the open market. They have about another $10.6M in carryover cash that is there if they need it, but that’s typically reserved for extensions of their own players in August and September.”

Bengals acquire left tackle Cordy Glenn from the Bills; swap first round picks. Great pickup!

Excellent pickup by the Bengals, he does have injury concerns
Bengals send their 1st & 6th for Buffalo 1st and 5th & Glenn

Glenn is signed through 2018 $9.25 mill + $2mill roster bonus [$8 mill guarantee
2019 $7.25 mill + $2mill roster bonus
2020 $ 7.5mill + $2mill roster bonus

His foot is supposed to be 100%. This doesnít get them back to where they were 2 years ago on the OL, but some nice additions in the draft can make this an asset again.

Yes, he was badly needed after Brown let the O-line walk away. 3 years but only next year guaranteed should allay some of the injury concerns......unless the Browns pick up Suh and he steps on that bad foot hanging out of the dogpile....

You guys probably wouldn't have gotten the LB you wanted at 12, but now you probably won't get the Georgia LB either at 21. Who will they take at 21 ?

The Bills still need a QB badly. Maybe the Browns will get your 12, KC's 22, and their 53 from the Bills for Houston's 4 ?

Offensive line needs to be addressed within the first two rounds. It is apparent Dalton and the running game need a better offensive line. If they can shore that up they are potentially in contention for a playoff spot. While linebacker is important, the offensive line needs to be addressed. I wouldn't mind if they took offensive lineman with their first two picks if they werent reaching and a really good player was available that they liked.

Amazing trade. Beyond ecstatic with it. I didn't like any of the players that would probably be available at 12 for the Bengals anyway, this picks up a HUGE need for a position that seems lacking in this draft plus lets them get someone who can help without having to reach.

Give me the Bama LB or Price at 21.

Reallly opens things up as far as drafting. Got a proven player with what sounds like an injury that isnt too big of a deal.

Occassionally they make good moves that gives you hope but then you remember they are the Bengals.

One guy I like in the draft, don't necessarily want the Bengals to draft him, is Christian Kirk from Texas AM. Isnt very big but runs good routes, good in the return game, tough to tackle in the open field, good hands, and should contribute from day 1

Obviously this was a great deal from the Bengals perspective (if Glenn is healthy and ready to go) as it addresses a position of the most need and frees up the 21 pick to potentially take the BPA, hopefully at another position of need.

Itís a very deep draft for OT. McGlinchey from ND will be available. If they wait until RD 2, they might be able to get the OT from Western Michigan.

Kid looks like a player. Could put him in the slot and move him around.
