CC is coming off a bad season. Can they step up and restore the dynasty that was built by the past few graduating classes or will another bad season officially put an end to the era?

I know they have a good amount of returning players including their QB and MLB. I do think CC will do better than last year however it is highly unlikely they can restore the dynasty created the last few years. This senior class does not match the strength, physicality, or athleticism possessed by the graduating classes of '15,'16, & '17. I do not see any of the 4.4 speed on the outside or Boccuti throwing the rock. Also, they need to figure out a run game as well. Ditty scored 24 rushing TDs in one season, their current RB has less than 8 TDs in two seasons. That being said, I do not think a .500 season and a playoff run is out of the question.

I have some friends close to the program and they said this should be a real nice team. They have all but one player back on defense. A couple of those kids were sophomores so they gained solid experience. Their linebackers are very good (Long,Cummins,Roth).
The offense is what's questionable. They need to be able to run the ball. They need speed out of the RB, hopefully they have a change of pace back as they didn't break any long runs last season. Johnson is back at QB and should be much better this year as he has experience. I expect the line to be better as they really struggled last year and didn't gel. 3 of them have some experience (2 seniors, 1 soph) and are all around the 220-240 range. They still need to solidify the front 5 or they'll struggle in 18. A big loss was kicker. Who will take over this role as it saved the Crusaders many times over the last few years.
Sure up the line, find the kicker, and improve the running game. If they can do this and stay healthy, I think we'll see the Crusaders making a deep run.

I agree with ya. However, in 14 we only had two 4.4 guys— Russel and JC. Both receivers. In 2015 Mr. Football was a 4.7 guy. And he was great! To get the running game going, you need lineman to at least get in the way. That did not happen last year.

I very much enjoyed the games where NDCL played CCC. They were all well contested and CCC is a class act. It was always a pleasure to interact with their fans. I wish your team the best in 18.

If, Central gets in the playoffs they will make a long run. No D5 schools in NE Ohio play a schedule like Centrals. This prepares them for the post season. A good gauge will be their game against South Range.

Hoping good thinga are on the way for CCC. A fine program fell on some hard times. Very good staff and program. CCC is nothing but class. Winton Woods played them during the past season and practiced there for the state game and was treated very well.

Central has a tough schedule, tougher than in some previous years. But snag one of Perry, Jackson, or Strongsville and that alone could do it. Perry especially because they have so many guaranteed wins. I like the way the schedule is structured to get those Harbins. I say the era of success lives on. Good luck Crusaders!

That is a class statement about CCC... wish your team the absolute best for 2018!

Crusaders got some weapons coming back - one thing at every level of football that is key for upcoming season - Having QB and RB back!

Now - all have fun at Graduation cause, then it is time to get really ready for season

Given the brutal schedule last year and coming off three consecutive state title appearances, it would be acceptable to think this team will make another run this year. The schedule is still brutal, but losing Winton Woods is good for them, but Strongsville may be one of the top ten teams in Division 1 next year. Regardless of the schedule it will be imperative that the Crusaders stay healthy and avoid injuries to key players. I know everyone points to losing Stone in the scrimmage, but also lost was the best defensive linemen with a freak ACL tear, and then a variety of injuries to solid players on the O and D lines. Considering they only dress about 40 players it is crucial to avoid the injuries.

All things aside, I think Central finds a way to win 6 or 7 games, putting them into the playoffs where they will have the opportunity to get back to the finals. I think there are some very winnable games for the Crusaders, but my toss-up games as of now are Jackson, Louisville, Perry and South Range. They have to win two of those games to have a chance at playoffs. I am figuring they will lose to Strongsville and have them beating a good Bellevue team at home.

I could see the running back leaving. His father never seems completely satisfied with things and I do not think the O-line will be much better than it was last year.

I would be more surprised if Dylan Johnson (the QB) left but since it is a Jackson poster making the insinuation, perhaps that is the case.

Option C - no one is transferring and rumors are rumors.

I was alluding to Johnson, and I hope it is nothing more than a few who wish rather than know. However, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the development of the offensive line and it will be better than last year.

So you heard this rumor about Dylan independent of Purple Hayes' post?

Wait... this is more confusing than answering my new flip phone... CCHS has 2 sophomores that are transferring to Perry?... don't any transfers have to sit out a year?

Next thing you know, Sports Gambling will be legal

One transfer, from a parochial school back to the students original school, is allowed without any repercussions. It is one of the exceptions to the transfer sit out rule.

I have heard through the grape vines some things that are less than savory. However, that would never happen at a school like Jackson! I mean, that was why they broke the series off in the first place as Central recruited too many of "their" players. What a joke!

Ha Ha.... yea - CCHS took/takes so many of Jackson football players to fill there roster of 35 kids on average since the beginning of time... ha-ha

Jackson stopped playing CCHS long ago because CCHS handled them on a regular basis and were sick of losing to the Fish Eaters

But I give credit now to Jackson for putting us back on their schedule - makes for good friendly rivalry... all we need know is for Swenson's to open next to Falcones

I find that hard to believe. What would the angle be at Jackson/for Jackson to entice his transfer? He is a football player, basketball player and lacrosse player, currently. Certainly Jackson has high quality programs in two of those sports and the football program is above average. If I am the kid, and basketball is a sport I want to play next year, I would wonder if the Jackson basketball program would even put me on the team and, if they did, how far down the bench I would be. As to football, he would be an excellent wide receiver at either school. Perhaps that is the issue - he does not want to take snaps as a QB at Central for another season and they are unwilling or unable to move him back to WR. As for lacrosse, I know nothing about where he would fit into Jackson's lax program (and I am OK with that). In the end, if something unsavory is going on, I have to imagine it would be the football program trying to snag him and that seems uncharacteristic of their current staff.

Whatever he decides, I wish him well. I have enjoyed watching him play for the last two years and would like to see him finish his career as a Crusader. But, if he thinks that 9 months at Jackson is what is best for him and his future, so be it.
