Chances of a mass shooting at Mason, Lakota, Sycamore, Fairfield or others?

My thought it is not if...it is when. We will have a mass shooting in a HS in one of these schools in the next 10 years.

NPS score is used by lots of companies to see how the consumers see their product... for example Apple has a 92.

I am guessing that the AR-15 has one of the highest NPS scores ever recorded if you survey mass shooters. We sell over a million a year in the US so...mass shootings are a given.

It is highly effective at killing lots of people quickly. #NR(ussia)A.

"Chances of a mass shooting at Mason, Lakota, Sycamore, Fairfield or others?"

Kind of hedged your bets there.

Large suburban school in Cincinnati Metro suburbs.

It seems to be very popular with Mass Shooters - Florida, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas, Texas church massacre and Orlando.

Exactly.

As a percentage of gun deaths in this country, deaths by AR-15 are in the low single digits.

Every one of these shootings ends the same way. A man with a gun shows up and returns fire.

Arm a guard. Arm a teacher. Casualties will drop immediately.

Sadly we will go the other way and limit guns.

After all we know areas with strict gun laws have less violence...just look at Chicago.

Heck 17 dead is just a Saturday night in Chicago.

We always look for ways to save lives and make things safer. Whether food, medicine, diseases, chemicals, work, cars, roads, etc etc but not guns. Bottom line at this point is who cares? Personally I've accepted it.

In fact the NRA and all true patriots should actually be encouraged. All these mass shootings and gun violence shows the 2nd amendment is alive and well, ie. easy access to the deadliest weapons of our choosing. Bodes well for when the zombies or gubmit come after us, and you know ther gonna.

The very brief training I had related to the possibility of a shooting at my school contradicts this idea. You're better off throwing a book or anything you can find at them and run.

I would suggest extensive training then.

Why is it then, that the shooting ALWAYS stops when the man with the gun shows up?

We've created soft targets. Killers love soft targets.

Vegas was a large outdoor concert. Texas church was a church. Orlando was a gay night club. Those aren't schools. You know that right?

Because the person with a gun showing up is a cop who is trained and the asshat shooter is an inexperienced moron. That's why throwing things at the inexperienced moron and running works. He wants sitting ducks, not moving or hostile targets.

if you know of specific evidence to suggest this it is your duty to inform the proper authorities, yappi message board is not the proper authority.

if you don't know of any specific evidence then at best you are spreading fake news and at worst you are fomenting insecurity and anxiety in someone's community unnecessarily.

if you are trying to start a conversation on gun control and mass shootings then there are better ways to start one.

if you are just speculating that these communities have some underlying issue that would cause a mass shooting then you might want to state what those underlying issues are and speak with prominent members of those communities to solve those issues before a tragedy strikes. once again yappi message board isn't the proper place for that discussion.

Roughly 1 in 21,000, or 0.0000476%. Unless any of the mentioned schools are k-12, then it's about 0.0000185%.

Not a funny situation but hilarious that 60% of the examples HGL mentioned aren't school shootings.

Where did I say anything about arming teachers or guards who aren't trained?

You're going to throw things and run. That's your best answer for self defense?

Good lord...

It depends on the situation. If I'm teaching a bunch of 18-20 year-olds, what do you want me to do? I've never had a gun pointed at me, but I'd like to think I'd throw a chair or something. Hopefully some gun-toting lunatic never enters my classroom.

Sadly, these things keep happening and there really isn't a whole lot that can be done. Banning guns is always a popular idea, except criminals are not going to just hand over weapons. Equipping all schools with metal detectors or arming guards at every school is just way too expensive. This kid had some issues, and it may have been a good idea to check him out,but in a free society, there isn't enough police and FBI to go interview every whack job that posts something threatening on the internet.

If you're armed and trained, shoot them.

I have no idea what point it is that you're trying to make.

My point is, school shootings end when men with guns show up. What's wrong with cutting down the response time?

ANY semi-automatic weapon is, unless you are willing to go back to muzzle-loaders you can have that as a given. There's nothing wrong with the guns, we've had them all along and people have had semi-automatics (millions of them) without shooting up schools.

People have lost their morals and ability to control themselves.
