Columbus and Cincy sued over gun control laws

Believe it or not Yappers they're things going on outside of Washington DC that affect us all!

Two 2nd Amendment groups have sued Cbus and Cincy to invalidate the gun ordinances the cities approved last month. Each city banned the sale of bump stocks and Columbus went further with additional ordinances. The interesting part of the lawsuit is the 2A groups are not suing on the basis of the 2nd Amendment, but suing on the basis of a state law that says cities/towns/villages/etc cannot pass gun laws that are more restrictive than the state laws.

My thoughts:
1. Both cities likely are going to waste money defending the lawsuits as state courts have generally been favorable towards state laws that say municipalities cannot go beyond those laws. Way to use my income tax dollars Columbus since I live elsewhere and don't get to vote in your city.
2. My how all the talk about gun control has died down with a lack of mass shootings lately.
3. There's so much irony in the plaintiffs saying Columbus is using a loophole with wordgames to support their laws when a federal policy loophole is the only reason bump stocks are legal.

Perhaps the goal is to challenge the law on the Fed level, that state cannot make that restriction?

Kind of an un-Republican premise. You think like a Dem.

I suggested a possible premise for their actions, not a proposal. Most can recognize the difference but if you're having difficulty in that area, the "?" as well as the word "perhaps" are big hints.

As for conservative vs. liberal, challenging wider government power over local is exactly a conservative premise. In this discussion it was suggested that these "2nd ammendment" groups could not read state law. I suggested their goal might be to challenge state's right to dictate to locality and individual, "the law," based upon protections granted at the Federal level.

You think li.. oh wait, no you don't.

This is the point where the non-butt-hurt person (hopefully you), recognizes and acknowledges that they were so intent on finding a "gotcha," that they were thinking out of their azz.
