Woman who gave server $5,000 tip used her boyfriend's credit card for revenge

Quote:
A woman, who was praised for her generosity after leaving a hefty $5,000 tip for a server at Clear Sky Cafe in Clearwater, Fla., has been arrested and charged with grand theft for allegedly using her boyfriend's credit card after he refused to buy her a plane ticket back to New York.

Serina Wolfe, 24, allegedly used her boyfriend's credit card without his knowledge after he would not buy her a plane ticket back home to Buffalo, N.Y., Fox 2 Now reports. While Wolfe's boyfriend had initially put a hold on his credit card, so Wolfe would not be able to use it to buy the ticket, he eventually lifted it. Wolfe then allegedly used the card to leave a tip of $5,000 on a bill that cost $55.37, which was reported four days ago by multiple outlets.

On Good Morning America this morning, one of the anchors said that since the transaction was fraudulent and the money should be given back to the card owner, the card owner should then give the server $100 for returning the money.

Say what? A $100 tip on a $55 check? And why should the cardholder be responsible for that? Or did he establish an easement by allowing the GF to use his card previously, and has basically established that he's responsible for debts as well as is own?

The money should be given back to the cardholder. The waitress should not expect anything. Any gift should be left up to the cardholder.
