D III East District

we are about 6 weeks away from the tournament and a little less than a month until the drawing. How is the field shaping up for this year's Eastern District D III tournament. D III is back down to one bracket, meaning only one team advancing to regionals in the east.

* Found some IVC records as of 1/24 on the Indian Valley Basketball web site.

3. Bridgeport
4. Buckeye Lcoal

11. Ridgewood 5-9
12. Sandy Valley 11-3

Sandy Valley beat Garaway over the weekend in a close game. Garaway has dropped 3 in a row to tough opponents. I'm sure they will turn things around.

Where does the Union Local record stand?

Does anyone have all the records for teams?

Not overly familiar with the East District. I understand that higher seeds get home games in the sectional games. When is the determination made where the district semifinals and finals are played? Didn't see any anything on the East District website.

Played at a neutral site. It is usually selected based on logistics of the two schools that are playing.

Only 4 teams with winning records. Seems abnormally low for this district.

There's your answer for why so few DIII schools have winning records. Many are in leagues with a decent amount of DII schools.

How are the DIV teams looking in the East? Are they also contributing to the lack of DIII schools that have winning records?

,D-4 east district looks stronger than d-3,d-4 east district now goes to Athens regionals, two from the southeast, one from Central, one from the east district,I really think the east district has a very good chance of making run to Columbus, the central district is not that strong this year, after the big three move up to d-3

D4 is pretty stout with Hiland and River both dropping back into D4. Add that to Malvern and Strasburg. I would believe that makes your top 4 teams in that district.

Oak Hill is a solid favorite to win one of the two SE district spots in the Athens regional. The other is wide open.

Watch out for Coal Grove in D4 SE district. The Hornets play the toughest schedule of any D4 school in the SE (Fairland, Portsmouth, Gallia Academy all twice), have all 5 starters back. They are a strong favorite to reach the Athens regional. They have already beaten Portsmouth twice.

Yea I was very interested in that score with River vs Union Local I was very surprised by the score 58-38 River,Union Local has a impressive record, but I don't think that Buckeye 8 conference is that strong at all,Union Local just beat Buckeye Trail by 8 at home and my Hawks beat Trail at Trail by 40 back in December, Hiland plays Trail at home tomorrow night I guess I'll see if they have improved

Maxpreps has Union at 13-4, is that accurate? I know it's not always correct on that site. hhawks had them listed at 14-1 earlier in this thread before their loss to River. Sandy Valley currently sits at 14-3 and Garaway is 12-5. In some order I'd expect those to be your top 3 seeded teams this Sunday.

Union Local is 17-2. Lost only to big school in West Virginia Wheeling Park who is 12-3 and River who is state ranked and only lost once to Hiland.

Bracket was released yesterday. Looks much like I expected. Ridgewood gets the 5 seed, they have been playing well lately.

Only 2 higher seeds win tonight, Tusky knocks off Coshocton and Bellaire who up ends Bridgeport. All other seeds prevail. Next round on Friday.

Bellaire was hardly an upset if you had seen both teams play. Chase Yoho can really fill it up.. They will be a tough out in this tourney.

Should be some decent games tonight. fort Frye Ridgewood should be a good one. Bellaire Gway might be closer than people think. Interested to see the union local score. Sandy should roll tusky.
