The other nice thing about Granville is the moms.

They make some damn good casseroles for team dinner, I’m told.

Athens has another D1 coaches kid at QB starting next year. Would be funny to beat out Buttermore at Granville in the playoffs. I cant see Buttermore building a team like he did at Tri valley with no transfers

Not sure how the urban legend got started that TV ever had a bunch of OE/transfer kids on the team.

It’s simply not the case. Last year their CB number was like 7 or something.

Won't have to worry about the rumors at Granville because they don't have open enrollment.

Agreed fish....people are ignorant, literally and figuratively. 99% percent of TV roster is born and bred in the district....the leftovers are what they are.....and what they are mostly not are starters. Almost all of the impact players that took them as far as they went were bottle fed in the district. People automatically assume success means transfers. Ignorant.

Buttermore will do it the same at Granville, with the players that are there. And by the way.....if people want to uproot and establish residency in Granville for whatever reason, so be it. It is high school sports today. Get used to it.

Yeah, they have a coach. They have a coach who does so little with so much. Only one MSL title when they were a D2 among D5-D7 teams. One outright LCL and one split. Something like 1-9 in playoffs. I realize that many like him in the LH community, but it is painfully obvious to those who watch LH play and to those who follow their opponents that LH is always going to be a second or third tier program in Central Ohio under the current staff.

This year it's 20 which bumped them into DII.

Coach at Heights has 92 wins. Very good accomplishment. He has more than 1 win in the playoffs. Not many but he does have more than one. He works hard, wins games and he and his staff are good examples for the young men to follow.

I like Heights but they do have a reputation of being dirty.

As one parent of a Heights starter told me two years back, it's a shame we have that rep because of a few players, who are allowed to act this way during practices and games.

Did Buttermore ever apply for the head coaching job at that new school in Olentangy? Seems like he would be a perfect fit since he's a program builder.

bits and pieces

Yes he applied for the Olentangy Berlin job. Also the Pickerington North job last year.

Tri-Valley had some key players last year who went to TV K-12 and lived in the district when they started school, but parents moved or built just outside the district and kept them at TV.

They also had some freshmen who moved in from a neighboring district (with a very weak football program) over the last couple years that bumped the competitive balance number up. Certainly not impact players last year.

Off the topic, but I can see schools like Tri-Valley and Dover who are right on the boundaries of D2 and D3 cutting open enrollment kids (who are not impact players) from the football team to keep the CB number down and increase the teams chances of being D3. OHSAA has created the circumstances for that to happen.

Buttermore has lived in the Tri-Valley district all 14 years. Money is better at Granville. Nice to get a 25-30% raise. Talent coming probably comparable.

The incentive may be there, but this would absolutely never happen, at least at Dover.

I agree, but, on the other hand, it may take something like this to force OHSAA to look at options other than strictly enrollment.

It will happen. Within the next 3 years. Maybe not at Dover.
