Didn't they do this a few years ago?

As for the seating and restrooms, many people love the hill (I'm not one of them) and the stadium seats plenty.

Pretty sure Stow cannot host non-Stow playoff games due to capacity and lack of restrooms, but that is just going off of memory not fact. The locker rooms certainly need redone..... I can tell you for sure that facilities and lack of upgrades associated with increased revenues during Nori’s tenure was an issue.

I vaguely remember a playoff game there 2 or 3 years ago. Small school game. Maybe Norwayne?

Farther back than I thought- 2012-

Shocked that Geis didn't wait out the Stow job before taking the Roosevelt job. The schools are literally five minutes from each other, plus more money and MUCH better program at Stow. Had to think he was a front runner at Stow, unless they're thinking former assistant all along.

To say that this number was sorely overestimated would be a gross understatement. The much smaller than 100 list has been narrowed down to a few....

why would Geis be a front runner for the Stow job? without knowing who any of the other candidates are, my guess is Poder would clearly get the job before Geis.

Just a few random thoughts/points-

I don't get all of the love for Geis. He may be a fine coach but in six seasons at Rootstown he was 28-35. The Rovers posted records of 2-8 in 2012, 0-10 in 2013, 3-7 in 2014, 5-5 in 2015, 6-4 in 2016 and 10-0 in 2017. Improvement for sure, but some act on here like he's the next Chuck Kyle.

I understood that within a couple of weeks of posting the job, Stow had 85 applications. Not sure what the final number was, but that's pretty strong.

Whoever gets the job will walk into a nice program with a supportive community and hardworking kids. The coach/administration relationships at Stow aren't always the best, but with any luck the new guy can continue Nori's success.

I have to figure Ron Wright is in the mix. He lives in Stow and was very successful at Hudson.

Heard they fielded a lot calls, 100 plus. Had 35-40 official applicants at Monday deadline. Narrowed down to 10, interviews start next week. Not sure who the 10 are. I would guess coordinators are in mix. Wouldn’t surprise me if Wright is one of ten also.

Ron Wright is probably the favorite. They should target Tony Gotto from Barberton or Scott Chiennard from Copley.

What’s the latest at Stow? Got to imagine they want to wrap this up quickly to allow the new coach to get rolling.

The plan is to have a candidate to present to the school board at the end of February.

I do know interviews began this week. I know from a reliable source that Dan Larlam (sp) from CVCA interviewed. Haven't heard any other names at this time. Both Gotto and Chouinard as mentioned above might seem to make sense but I am not sure either would want to leave where they are.

I don't think it was any coincidence that Ron Wright was on Munch Bishop's show the day after Nori stepped down talking about how he'd like to coach again. I'm certain he's in the mix, including some inside candidates.

Whoever gets it will find that the Stow talent may be down the next 2 or 3 years.

People said that coming into last fall, but Stow was pretty damn good. They will have a strong senior class next year, and a sophomore class that might be the best and deepest Stow has ever had. The (upcoming) junior class, however, has been called "the weakest in the last 10-plus years" and other less than optimistic descriptions by various people inside the program.

They should still be at least among the best in the county/area next year...if they can get a QB.

Any more talk of the St V quarterback going back to Stow?

Most think he is going to stay...very slim chance he leaves at this point. Part of Luke misses his friends he grew up with at Stow, but started to really click with his teammates as the season wore on, and he sees a chance for state championship at StV. Now if only his dad will behave....

Amen. He even had a mini-meltdown on here when people criticized the kid as a freshman, going off on his kid's own teammates. It was a not a good look.

The dad is fine.

If I were Stow I would worry about their HC. One bad move or decision and those kids are running to the private schools.

Oh my we wouldn’t want that to happen would we? Lol. Evil private schools stealing kids away.

How did a post about Stows coach leaving/search, turn into a St V conversation and who should be worrying about where kids are going

On a SVSM thread when the kid was a freshman.

Great, I feel better about him now. If a Hoban kid's dad did that you'd unmercifully skewer him.

Stow needs to focus on retaining good coaches so that they aren't back here again soon.

My money is on Larlham.

Because someone from Stow posted about the team coming back for next year and highlighted the fact that they are going to be pretty strong but was worried about the QB position. The St V QB is from Stow and was torn during last season as to whether he should stay at St V or go back to Stow. Good kid with two good options. It's a Stow conversation about their search for a coach and their team next year. If you want to see who is worrying about who plays where and how ugly it can be.....go to the Manchester thread and look at the comments there.

Second round of interviews start this week for remaining 4. Talk this weekend was one internal candidate and three from outside district.
