Lambert made a statement with a :08 number on West. Wow. I'm sure that will get Connolly's attention.

182 is interesting. #2-4 are all on the top half (along with Goldsmith), opposite #1 Lawson the bottom. Hopefully the losers disburse in the wrestle backs or else some good kids may be left at home.

In terms of the HWTs, looks like we may be able to fill a competent slate of 4 for the Schott, but man is the fall off steep after that. 2 freshman. 2 other guys with losing records and 20+ losses and another with 16. Only 4 guys with 30+ wins, as recently as 2 years ago there were 9 or ten. No freshman. And no losing records. Hopefully this swings back the other way in the coming years.

At 220 Garren's move seems like a good one and he adds a definite spark to a weight class that was just so so last year and was hit hard by Houston's injury and Cover's move to HWT. Not sure any of the CO 220's make any noise at the Schott but it should be a competitive weight class at Darby.

Hopefully we get to see Deron Pullium and Lennox Wolak Part 2 in the semis. At Coffman with Pulliam leading 5-3 in the 3rd Wolak was disqualified. Never found out why but it was a very chippy match.

Williams vs Sparks at 132 will probably be the first one on most people's minds. I could easily see the loser of this one getting through the wrestle backs and forcing a rematch.

McCloskey vs Benneker at 182 would be another one I would think is possible.

NE-1 Jade Batross 11 - Newark (33-11)

UA-4 Kyle Copas 11 - Reynoldsburg (37-10

I think this will be a chance for a 4 to beat a 1 . Copas had a very tough field at sectionals and wrestled Yost tough in the semi. Losing by 4

I don't know about the other matches you mentioned, and I don't know Dhashi, but Jessie Bowers placed at districts last year as a freshman for a reason. And he dropped to 120 this weekend for a reason. That dude gets after it.

I agree, Bowers is very tough. All I'm saying is I've seen Dhashi a couple times and was impressed with him. Maybe Bowers tech's him, maybe he doesn't; I am just intruiged with the match-up.

Lambeau,

Regarding 285, two of the top 6 in the district are on their way up to Perrysburg. If you would throw those two in the mix, I'm sure that would make for an even better weight class.

That's a good point, in Ndongo and Jones, two 30+ win guys won't be at Darby. They would definitely solidify the bracket a bit. All in all though, I don't think the class is (in terms of top end talent and overall depth) as strong as in years past. [And I wish I had a time machine to transport a guy like Nick Nader back to the future. He wrestled so well his senior year then drew the absolute worst draw he could at Districts and didn't make it through].

As for Ndongo and Jones, Perrysburg doesn't actually look as brutal for them as in other classes. North Canton appears to have drawn more of the 285 talent than Perrysburg did. Maybe we'll get more than 4 Central Ohio HWTs to the Schott this way!

Lambeau,

That would be awesome if we could get 6 out. Bad thing is I believe that these two will end up meeting again at districts to end one seasons.

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.
I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

Without getting into details... A school that is participating in the tournament is unable to have practice today. The decision to not be able to have practice is out of the hands of the coach and school.

Regardless of whatever the rule is, I donít like it. This is HS Districts. These kids are in high school and know the stakes. They have been maintaining weight all year. One school missing practice one day should not change it for everyone.... I am sure they are old enough to check their weight and work out on their own if necessary🙄
