Neville’s stalled his butt off to try to avoid bonus. Got hit for stalling at least 3 times.

Ohio St in in total control. Gonna be tough for Penn St to catch them. Just looking at the matchups tomorrow I don't think Penn St can catch them. Just talking about finals matches:

125 OH St Favored with good chance for bonus
133 OH St Tossup no bonus
141 OH St Favored no bonus
149 Penn St favored bonus
157 OH St favored Not sure about bonus
165 Penn St Tossup no bonus but you never know, I think IMar wins
174 Penn St favorite No bonus
184 Penn St favorite No Bonus this time
197 Oh St favorite but this could go either way and a critical match
285 Oh St tossup and hoping for an OSU win but no bonus

Penn St should win 149, 174, 184 and have tossup matches at 165, 197
Oh St should win 125, 141, 157 and have tossup matches at 133, 197, and 285 with 184 a slight chance.

I think OSU has to under perform tomorrow to lose this.

Thoughts?

Ohio State is definitely not favorite at 157, Pantaleo has beat Micah twice hence the higher seed. Also I think Mark Hall will get bonus against Amine. Ohio State should still be in the driver seat but I'm holding my breath. After the dual I will never get my hopes up that we can beat Penn State until the last match is wrestled.

Good catch at 157, for some reason that slipped my mind even though I watched the match. If Micah can avoid the big hole he has a chance. However, I don't see Hall getting bonus, Amine is wrestling very well right now.

Either way, it's going to be fun tomorrow.

I agree 100% with not getting our hopes up until the last match. And before the finals we need to set the stage with the consos. They're worth 4.5 points going from 6th to 3rd. I think Nolf is done, so we each have two in the consos - Hayes and BoJo for us, Lee and Nevills for them. I see Hayes getting 3rd or 4th and BoJo getting 3rd. Lee and Nevills could each get 3rd. So let's call it even. And Keener can get a point for 7th.

Going into the finals we'll have about a 13.5 point lead if the consos don't close the gap. That's a 3+ match lead in the finals. They have 5 going in the finals, 3 are favored (149, 174, 184) and 165 and 197 are really tossups. We have 7 going in the finals, 2 are favored (125, 141), MyMar is an underdog and the rest are tossups (133, 157, 197 and 285). They would need to run the table and we would have to limp out of there with 2 champs. I think we'll do better than that and I don't think they'll run the table. But I still think it will be a battle.

Not to get ahead of the all important Big Ten Championship, but if Nato
Wins tomorrow's Finals is that enough to move him to #1 Seed next week
possibly putting Suriano and Lee on the same side of the Bracket of each other.

Or does Nick fall to a 4th or even 5th seed keeping him on Nato's side. ?

Thoughts

I think Cruz gets the #1 and NaTo #2. Not sure what they'll do with Lee and Suriano. My guess is that Suriano gets #3 and Lee #4.

I would guess Cruz-Suriano-Tomasello-Lee, at least I think. Suriano is still undefeated even though he defaulted out, I think that means something to rankers.

True but Suriano hasn't beaten any of them has he? Not 100% sure. I think Cruz and Nate are #1 and #2 based on being NCAA Champions and I really think Cruz is probably 3rd or 4th best out of the group. He won't repeat.

Here's the seeding criteria. From what I understand it's pretty much a mathematical formula.

H2H 25%
Quality Wins 20%
Rank 15%
RPI 10%
Win % 10%
Common Opponents 10%
Conf Place 10%

Only NaTo and Lee have H2H. NaTo has a ton of quality wins, more so (I think) than any of the other three. Coaches rank will be interesting. NaTo should bump from 4 to at least 3 (ahead of Lee), but will they keep Suriano at 2? Neither NaTo nor Lee have enough matches for RPI (need 17). I think RS wins don't count for Lee. Cruz and Suriano both are 100% in Win % (I don't think MFF counts as a loss). Common opponents won't do much since only Lee and NaTo have losses. There's no one out of the top 4 who has beaten one of the top four. Conference Place gives Cruz and NaTo the advantage. The bottom line is that there's four really good 125s, so it doesn't matter who is 1-4. What matters is how you wrestle at the NCAAs. For those that want to dismiss Cruz, he beat Gilman last year, so he's pretty good.

bdhof if you want to carry this to the 11 warriors board i would appreciate it.

I just want to publicly thank the " Columbus Dispatch " for having
16 pages of mostly worthless and i use this term loosely " Sports "
coverage today.

That did not include 1 article or even the Big Ten Wrestling meet Scores
in their worthless rag today.

UnReal .........

But i know Fairport Harbor won the girls state bowling title.

Will do. BTW, Eleven Warriors has a really good site for wrestling found here:

https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-wrestling

I've mentioned it on this site before. Andy Vance, the wrestling writer, has been doing great previews, post match summaries, etc all year long, even pretty active in preseason last summer. And there's a comment section that's pretty active as well. I don't know when he started. I found it last summer. The major newspapers likely will never give wrestling the exposure that it deserves. I remember as a coach back in the 70s complaining about it. Nothing has changed. At least now there are websites like Yappi, Eleven Warriors, etc that cover our sport.

Yes i follow all Buckeye Sports there they do a excellent job.

I'm posting in the Wrestling sites that i have a access to about the
lack of Dispatch coverage for Buckeye Wrestling as i have seen articles
written in there that almost mirrored comments made by people on
these sites.
Like they're to lazy to do their own coverage.
With Buckeye Wrestling Twitter, Yappi, Buckeye Scout and free Track Wrestling site with up to the minute coverage there is no excuse a 1st
semester intern at that rag couldn't loosely monitor the results and updates
and at least get the standings and Finals matches printed.
Of course when you write to the Editor he has some lame excuse like well
you must got the Early Edition .
Yet they will have the Duke / North Carolina Score for CBB that didn't end until after 10pm.

Dishrag, disgrace, dispose! I stopped getting that fish wrap when my sons were in HS for the lack of wrestling coverage. And I told them. I don't even get online stuff anymore.

9th place matches have started up. PSU's Kuhn at 125 lost and will not join the rest of the team in Cleveland. Actually, 133 Keener for PSU could be left home as well if he doesn't win the 7th place match (7 allocations at 133). But he likely gets an at large even if he places 8th.

Campbell punches a ticket to Cleveland with a 9-0 win (no team points for 9th place matches). He's had a rough go this year but is capable of winning a few matches at NCAAs and scoring a few points.

Hayes moves to 3rd place match with MD

Meanwhile both Nolf and Kemerer MFF out of conso semis and Trackwrestling has it posted that Nolf wins the 5th place match over Kemerer in DF. I'm wondering if Kemerer MFF'ed before Nolf, so that's how they decided it. It gives PSU 3 points they wouldn't have otherwise gotten.

Who cares? Read a marginal summary article in the Dispatch or go online and read and view complete and detailed coverage of the entire tournament on Flo and Eleven Warriors and Intermat and about 5 other sites.

to the Newspaper that covers Ohio State in their home city.
