Senior WR Andrew Wittrock caught 3 TD passes tonight vs Cathedral to tie a StX record held by multiple Bombers including Jack Cameron (1986 vs Elder), Michael Larkin (1998 vs LaSalle), Josh Williams (2000 vs Princeton) and Sam McDonald (2001 St. Ignatius).

The Bomber defense being so good actually hurts Wolf's chances of setting single season passing records. He played only a half in the blowout vs. Walnut Hills and the comfortable win over Cathedral. In the second half vs. Moeller he threw less than 5 times as Coach Specht was content to chew up the clock and play field position.

I see more of the same in the second half of the season where the Bombers will have a comfortable lead heading into the second half and Specht will be content to run the ball, play field position and get Kreimer and/or Hudepohl some varsity snaps.

If only our defense was Moeller caliber.

True to an extent. But playing Hinsdale instead of John Bosco, and Walnut Hills instead of Warren Central doesn't exactly hurt the stats. For the whole team.

In 1985 Greg Frey set school single game passing marks for pass completions (28), pass attempts (54), passing yards (487) and touchdowns (6) in a 56-42 regular season loss to Moeller at Ballaban Stadium.

The Bombers trailed the entire game and the Bomber offense with a limited running game relied on the arm of Frey and the receiving of TE Jack Cameron and the WR corps of Mike Healey, Robbie Sharrock and Mark Setters.
But the Bomber defense led by LB Steve Specht was just too porous.

All but Frey's 28 completions still stand as single game records today.
Wolf broke that record last season, completing 31 passes in last seasons final regular season game vs LSX which began the current 12 game winning streak.
In that game vs LSX the Bombers trailed 3-0 at halftime but Wolf exploded for 3 TD passes in the 3rd quarter and another in the 4th for the 28-3 victory.

And the rest as they say is histoire

I heard this weekend that this '18 class beat Moe freshman year, JV year, Varsity Junior year and now this year, senior varsity year. Does anyone know if a class has ever swept Moeller all four years? Congrats to the Class of 2018! Keep rolling! Go Bombers!!!

Wittrock's 2 TD catches tonight vs LaSalle ties him with McDonald for Career TD Receptions at 16 and his 7 for the year leave him 3 short of McDonald's Season Record

The 2007 Bombers missed the top spot by 0.01 to 1995 Ignatius.
StX has 8 teams in the top 25 (next most is Ignatius with 5)

Weeks 9 and 10 are big Harbin point getters as St. Ignatius is 7-0 and LSX is 6-1.
St. Ignatius is likely to finish 8-2 (St. Ed's, StX) and LSX 7-3 (Trinity, Male, StX)

Reload, why does GCL South only have one POY, and not an offensive and defensive Player of the Year? Seems like a Bomber sweep this year.

Politics.
About 15 years back one of the Bomber assistant coaches went to the GCL coaches meeting in place of Rasso (Rasso hated those things) and the wheeling and dealing Grippa and Ramsey were doing to get their kids on the GCL team and get POY would make a Clinton proud
Defensive guys rarely if ever get POY and usually it's co-player of the year - offensive players from 2 different teams

Will be interesting to see if the win vs the Canadian team increases or decreases the Bomber Harbin total

Cam Specht closing in on 2 career records
He is now 6 receptions away from breaking Kevin Milligan's career record of 127
He is now 5 punt returns away from breaking Scott Sollman's 51 career punt returns.

Chase Wolf has completed 68% of his passes and has thrown for 18 TDs and just 1 INT. Despite only throwing 9 passes vs. Walnut, 4 passes in the second half of the Moeller blowout, sitting the second halves of LaSalle, Cathedral and Canada and throwing 33 passes in an absolute downpour vs Colerain he still has a decent shot at season passing records provided the team makes a deep playoff run.
