I was just looking at Hinsdale's football website and their twitter page. They have 3 guys playing in the Big 10 now and they have been to the state finals once and the state-semifinals a few times. It says their whole defensive line graduated from last year but they have some good skill players returning. They are in the largest class in Illinois in football and it is a co-ed school with an enrollment of around 3,000 students. As reload said, they were undefeated last year in the regular season but got upset in the first round of the playoffs. It should be a good game and I am looking forward to it.

you can go to Hudl and watch some of their highlights. They don't look big and powerful, but have very good specialty people. No way they can run between tackles, have to get outside or throw. I don't think they can stop the X Offense.

If you're a believer of the value of mimicking game like scenarios, their schedule indicates they've only had an intrasquad scrimmage and haven't played another team. That coupled with a long bus ride may make it very difficult to beat X and its superior talent.

In a recent interview Coach Specht talked about how good the senior leadership is on this year’s team.

16 of 22 starters are seniors (Wolf, Specht, Childs, Bacevich, Mesue, Jefferson, Wittrock, Gretz, Kronenberger, Deters, Fox, Dirksing, Shamsi, GKirby, Morocco and Adair)

The defense will start 8 seniors and 3 juniors (Bridges, Kiessling and Ferguson) and another 2 seniors (Heyob and Brown) will be in the defense’s rotation.

The offense will start 8 seniors, 2 juniors (Mohn and Kreimer) and 1 sophomore (JKirby).

Another senior (Grause) along with 3 juniors (Stockman, Payne and McIntyre) and 2 sophomores (Newman and Lange) will be in the offense’s rotation

A year ago the Bombers entered the season opener with an injury depleted offensive line, a revamped defensive secondary that consisted of 3 former offensive skill players, facing a national all-star powerhouse from the big bad state of California, playing in a Division 1 college stadium televised nationally on ESPN.

Today the Bombers have a healthy offensive line (healthy roster top to bottom), a defensive secondary consisting of players who played the position last year on either varsity or JV, are playing a team of little notoriety from the state of Illinois in an obscure high school stadium near the I-75/I-275 interchange with a local radio broadcast by Tony and Ralph

GO BOMBERS!!

None of that matters to me. Could be against some obscure Ontario school for all I care. I am just ready for some football!

Something is effed up.

No radio. No stats streaming.

But on a football site I follow I've seen a score with X down 7-0.

Not that I can find but that stream is in and out. Not worth it for one time if you don't already have the subscription.

Sounds like Tony and Ralph are in a tin can or calling on a cell phone.

I was fortunate enough to have been at the game. Wolf plays with such energy, scrambles well, sits in the pocket and fires a shot right to his receivers. There were more than a handful of passes right over his receivers shoulders into their hands. The little screen passes started getting sniffed out late in the game but overall, they were effective. They didn't go for large bombs, played fundamental football and if they need 8 yards, they went for 8 yards, not a tiny 1 yard pass like recent years. I was majorly impressed by this team so far.
I don't think Hinsdale knew what they were in for. I believe they didn't realize or believe that X had a stout run defense because they reminded me of Colerain with all of their option runs.
One thing stood out to me. Hinsdale was tiny. Their defense seems very small and easily manhandled by the O-Line. It won't be like that against Colerain.
I was happy to see LaSalle hasn't lost their touch as they dispatched them 7-3 on Friday. I listened to that game.

I didn't really think it was that Hinsdale was tiny...I just thought we had pretty good size...maybe a combination of both.

I think we had that going for us too. I'm pretty sure Mike Odioso, former St. X asst. coach from the late 80s, who was sitting in front of me, said he heard one of their D-lineman were 220.
