Congrats Justin and Buckeye Nation!!
He's been a Buckeye fan since he was a kid, now gets to pursue his dream of playing in the Shoe 90 minutes from family/friends and in the same league as his older brother.
I'm glad he's got this behind him and can now concentrate on a stellar senior season which could finish in Columbus.
Go Bombers!

StX 2014
1. Ben Glines Sr. RB - Boston College
2. Justin Hilliard Sr. LB - Ohio State
3. Simeon Lane Sr. NG - offer Illinois
4. Cole Jones Sr. LB - offers Eastern Michigan and Army
5. Sean Clifford Soph. QB - offer Akron

I really, really hate to agree with you on anything...ever. But, I'm pretty excited he's going to be a Buckeye.

He's the kind of player OSU overlooked for years from Cincinnati and the GCL.

Congrats to St. X and Hilliards

That's pretty impressive as the OSU LBers, for the most part, are all pretty young. Congrats to him.

In other news...just saw and read this on the enquirer site.

Wishing Rick the best of luck at West Point, nothing but respect for those who serve! Especially during this 4th of July week.

My personal favorite was a pregame timeline prediction from the 2011 Division 1 doubleheader at Nippert when mighty Moe played Middletown followed by X vs Colerain..........

Game Day Timeline Predictions

12:02pm Coach Specht arrives a couple minutes late for his lunch meeting with Judge Bernie at an obscure restaurant in Florence, Kentucky
12:16pm Wheelman, birdog, andy dufresne and wild bill meet at bob crables house for face painting
12:22pm Jalin Marshall practices his Heisman pose in front of a full length mirror in the Middie locker room
12:28pm Specht orders the house salad and a pitcher of beer while Judge Bernie orders a slab of ribs, plate of pasta, a whole chicken, onion rings, French fries, porterhouse steak and…….a diet coke.
12:32pm Coach Bolden, perspiration dripping from his forehead, sends a Colerain aide to Gifts of the Spirit to purchase 8 dozen rosaries which he plans on passing out to players upon boarding the team bus
12:37pm birdog scratches his nuts
12:46pm LCD finally rolls out of bed, opts not to shower and dons his Colerain double zero bright red jersey and red stretchable warmup pants, pops a Budweiser and heads for the garage.
12:52pm Crable breaks out the blue and gold face paint and a face painting frenzy ensues amidst a gaggle of giggles.
12:56pm Coach Rodenberg alone in his coach’s office on Montgomery Road frantically searches for a DVD of Vince Lombardi motivational speeches
1:12pm Specht and Judge Bernie discuss the family vacation they plan on taking together next summer
1:32pm LCD pulls into Monfort Heights drive thru, pops the trunk on his red Caddy, tells the worker who greets him by name that he’ll take the usual while passing him a freshly printed $100 bill.
1:58pm Coach Specht pays the bill, embraces judge bernie and says “see you soon” as they walk toward their vehicles.
2:14pm birdog scratches wheelman’s nuts
2:30pm LCD pulls into Mount Airy Forest where tofer, cardinal fan and gocards wait in a smoke filled windowless van. He pops open the trunk and tofer checks inventory: liquor, lottery tickets, smokes and Trojans. Looks like a repeat of the previous nite. They will be ready for kickoff and much more.
3:15pm Crable tosses 4 old Moeller jerseys to his friends who are thrilled to wear football jerseys for the first time. The extra large jersey only cover half of their mid section.
4:36pm Colerain players board the team buses as the Doobie Brothers Jesus is Just All Right blares from parking lot speaker system.
4:48pm birdog is denied entrance into Nippert for trying to sneak in a sawed off shotgun beneath his jersey. Andy dufresne freaks out fearing that he may be sent back to Shawshank prison and runs all the way back to blue ash
5:00pm At StX team mass begins as the entire team and coaching staff lift their eyes to the cross of Jesus
5:13pm Wheelman and wild bill take their seats in the first row directly behind the moeller bench, eventually they are joined by hundreds of other moe supporters all with similar paint and dress
5:18pm Judge Bernie back at home pulls his black and white striped shirt out of his closet in preparation for tonite’s game.
5:19pm Rodenberg delivers his pre-game motivational speech in which his final words are “quitters always quit and losers never win and remember fellas confidence is contagious but so is lack of confidence so don’t lose confidence.”
5:27pm StX student section begins a flurry of religious chants from southwestern corner of the stadium
5:30pm Kickoff!

I thought Homer played JV last year, I don't remember him seeing varsity action, are you sure? Also, where is Ryan Frey from last year going to college to play, I heard he was not playing? Also, I hope you are wrong about the # of Soph's starting this year, to me it's a bad sign if we have a bunch of Soph's starting.

Homer started one game because of all the injuries at WR. Prophit played because of injuries as well. Technically they started but it is a little misleading. Normally started means they beat out upper classmen and that is not exactly what happened.

As far a sophs playing, do you think kids should start because of age or talent? If I have a soph QB that is so good he already has a D1 offer or a soph T who might be the biggest, strongest, and meanest of all the linemen, why would I it them on the bench due to age? Senior laded rosters are only great if the seniors are great. We started a lot of seniors last year and many of them didnt deserve to play. My take....best kid should play.

I disagree that "it's a bad sign if we have a bunch of Soph's starting." A bad sign would be if we don't have the best 11 players available on the field...regardless of age/class year. If 3 Soph's start (out of 22 starters), because they happen to be the best in the school at their position, that means that 86% of the players on the field are still Sr's and Jr's to carry the role of Leadership. If 4 Soph's start, there are still 82% of the players on the field are Sr's and Jr's. They are not being brought up to be the Leader(s) of the team... They are brought up to play because of their talent and work ethic being the best for their position on the field.

I believe a point ReLoad is making is that the coaches have made good decisions when bringing up Soph's to start...hard to argue 84% of three year starters receiving D1 scholarships. It appears to be that the coaching staff has a pretty good eye for talent and work ethic from the players coming out of their Frosh season into the off-season workouts.

If a kid is good enough to beat out others and start as a sophomore than its safe to say they are very talented. Colleges recruit talent (size, speed and potential) so the fact that 84% of sophomore starters received college scholarships is no great surprise.

Now if a sophomore is pressed into starting due to injures and a lack of depth the guaranteed college scholarship (see 84%) is probably much less of a guarantee.

If a sophomore is the best player at a position, I do not see a problem with them starting, and I do not necessarily think it indicates the team will not be successful.

I agree with you.

Being Homer's dad I elevated him to starter status based on catching 3 passes in the final regular season game. His playing was due to Frey's ankle injury.

Who did Prophit replace? I thought he started since the beginning of the year and after CJ replaced him midseason he still played in passing situations.

Prophit's has some decent sophomore highlights and is being recruited (http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2766039/...ghts/145022375)

As was stated the point of my original post was that if a player is a 3 year starter at StX, 84% of the time those players will earn a D1 scholarship.

I agree that Homer and possibly even Prophit (and therefore no one from their class) should be included in this discussion. The ironic thing is that their class could produce close to the most D1 players at X.

My guess is 2, maybe 3.
Past history shows X has, on average, 2 or 3 studs from the sophomore class that are 3 year varsity starters and those players are predominantly D1 type players that are difference makers on the field.

Darius Ashley was a soph in 2005 also. That makes four.

Ashley and Milligan were critical from the get go.
