St Ed's isn't "down" so we can see. When you have two such strong players, it kind of makes the others look like role players but when the Williams kid was hurt, didn't points still come? Go back to some of the strong teams and it's always those other 4-5 kids that could be the star on a different team that made the whole.

We'll see.

SJ wins 59-45 to give Ed his 700th. McKinstry came up big down the stretch with Williams in foul trouble. Maybe I was wrong about this bunch.

Huge win with Vince on the bench for much of the second half. Potential regional final preview.

Start beats Ross tonight, 57-37, ending the Little Giants modest three game win streak.

Which one, Williams going to the Horizon league? Good b-ball, good schools. How about the others? Watched the Mich-Purdue game on replay the other day, got to see great contributions from Lima's Simpson and Elida's Mathias.

I liked Jakiel Wells from SFS last year, and I like him even more now.

Kid contributes in a lot of ways on the floor, plays hard, tough kid. Not polished on the offensive end of the floor, but I hope somebody is working with him...

SJJ got hammered by Warren De La Salle last night at home. SJJ was without Vincent Williams who warmed up but sat on the bench for the game. They're now 10-0 against Ohio teams and 2-3 outside the state.

Looked at mlive, De La Salle not the strongest team but they are going to be solid and well coached athletes. Not sure where the line is, but 17 pts doesn't sound like a "hammering." Their marketing peope at duh'local will probably describe it as "got by."

Hope the player is well. That's the one got hurt? A rest probably a good idea.

It was a rest according to Ed. Can't remember the last time SJJ lost by double digits at home. I expect Vince to be back next game.

SJJ beats Centerville 46-42 without Houston King, who got banged up last night in the Lima Senior game. Big win.

Huge win. I didn't hear about King, wish I could have made it to the game.

Those in the know, know that even though Massillon Jackson handled SJJ easily last year at the JAR, SJJ missed everything in the first half. Point being, they showed they had elite stock then. Not that they could defeat Jackson as they clearly did not, but rather that they have the "class" to compete at an elite level.

Riggs was a huge loss, as solid a point guard as there has been at the high school level, but they still have a lot of firepower. Definitely enough to have a punchers chance as the season progresses, and if the stars align, who knows what could happen.

The win over Lima wasn't exactly compelling. King or no King. Too early to be thinking anything but the next game. Still worth measuring who is putting up what in the state this year. I'm not exactly recalling any superstars in the way. Good balanced team with reliable bench seem to bring home the D1 trophy.

SJJ clinches another TRAC Championship with last night's win over SFS. They are now 87-9 in the TRAC. SFS has some good young talent and could challenge for the title next year. Their coach looked like a clown last night, leave leading the cheering section to the students.

and who gets the foot stomping and crying responsibilities on the SJJ side?

You know how this "next year" thing works out. We have to wait until we see how the junior transfers settle.

Bumpity Bump: CCHS let the devil have his due? BBall taken a big downturn under AD Dempsey. Football not really all that hot either.

Put the guy that can coach back on the bench? Maybe the league will start to return to glory.

A couple off-season stories. Nigel Hayes signed a multi-year deal with the Sacramento Kings and Ed Heintschel announced he will return for a 40th season.

The TRAC has had an alum in the last 5 Final 4's. I'd have that plastered on my website.

Go UM.

Who did the TRAC have in the Final 4 last year? Drawing a blank.

For whatever reason I thought Wisky and Hayes made it. Sorry, 4 out 5. Still be on the website if it was me.

The coaching job is currently open. Taking applications through May 11. Sylvania Schools has a policy that administrators not be coaches. It was waived for Joplin when Bob Simon left after the school year started.

I'll be surprised, maybe even a little disappointed if there's not at least a little protest, ala Ottawa Hills. Good coaches are harder to find than even mediocre school administrators. How much training do you need to sit in an office with feet on a desk? I think they wake up for morning announcements, make a showing at lunch then back to the hole until final bell. Am I wrong? Onlytime I ever saw one, then and if I was suspected of something I didn't do.

How come no one mentioned the Floyd boy?

It's the youngest, right? Man they age fast.
