KING......I agree that being 4-0 in the league after a 3rd place finish (8-6) a year ago speaks volumes to where this program is headed. I believe I read in the repository recently that Minerva was 6-50 in NBC play in 4 years prior to last. So, for the Lions to be 12-6 over the last 18 in a very competitive league this year is something to be proud of. Coach Green has them playing a competitive basketball.

Louisville, Marlington, and Salem all have good offenses so that Lions D will be tested mightily over the next few weeks. Sometimes close wins say more about a teams toughness than blowout wins. The Lions have been finding a way to get it done and might serve them well the rest of the way.

With Wright, Croston, and Williams they have 3 pretty good players. I hope the knock off the Quakers this Friday to set up a heck of a week next week AT Louisville and AT Marlington. Then AT Sandy Valley and AT Alliance. That is one of the toughest 4 game road trips that you will ever see around these parts!

Good luck King and Minerva!

Minerva beats Salem 71-56. Connor Wright had 24 and Brock Croston had 22 to pace the Lions. Big one on Tuesday night against the Leps.

Looking forward to the matchup. Leps rolled tonight on the back of Wahl's 38 points. Hit eight 3's to set single game 3 pt. record for Louisville. Go Leps!

Nice win for the Leps! Wahl was the difference down the stretch. Connor Wright was impressive. Minerva is much improved from two years ago. I think the main difference was Minerva shot poorly behind the arc, converting only one trey if I remember. Of course we didn't shoot much better behind the arc. Our depth really helps in these type of games, got some key plays from our bench, and defensive energy from Hartline and Zuppe. On to WB.

Got to see my first game of season tonight and I picked a good one. First I hope that 20 is going to be ok for the Leopards, he took a pretty nasty elbow to the face and will need several stitches to close that eye.

I thought Minerva did some good things with the big man in post early, but the Leopards did a nice job fronting him and denying the down pass. Also thought 12 for Minerva was a nice player, just seemed to be running out of gas as game went on.

On that point I thought Louisville was the much deeper team that showed up in 4th. I think between 2,5 and 24 can guard just about anyone and make it a long night for them. 2 took a couple charges and was on the floor a few times, along with showing he can score if needed. 5 is just a next level athlete that can go with anyone defensively and made some tough shots of the dribble. I think this team could go 8 deep and keep guys fresh and they would give many teams fits with pressure.

Louisville's depth is what separates them from the rest of the league. I don't see them losing anymore in the NBC....Minerva would be right with them if it were a game of no substitutions. Good health to all in the NBC.

Don't throw the dirt on us just yet Dig. Round one went to the Leps but in a few weeks they have to travel down to the Lions Den where hopefully we will be the beneficiaries of some home cooking calls that they received last night. They've got a great team as usual but it was a 4 or 5 point game midway through the 4th so we were in striking range. It certainly won't be easy to beat them but our kids show up every night and I like our chances the next go around.

Haven't even got the shovel out of the barn yet.....anything can happen in the second round. Parity makes for great games, I just see the Leps as the favorites due to there depth. Good luck to all.

Marlington 5-1
Minerva 5-1
Louisville 4-1
West Branch 3-3
Alliance 3-3
Salem 2-4
Carrollton 1-5
Canton South 0-5

Louisville is def the deepest team in the league. I watched them play more kids in the FIRST QUARTER than Minerva did in the GAME. Minerva has 3 nice players and could be scary if a fourth player gave them anything on offense. Looking at scores, The Lions do a great job defending...56 is the most they have allowed in the league and only 50 ppg for the season.

Marlington has 2 very good guards and a solid big man. They have exceeded expectations so far and will be there in the end. West Branch's first 5 are as talented as anyone, but they only go 1 deep off bench and he is 1-dimensional.

Alliance and Salem both are good enough to beat anyone, but have shown the ability to lose on any night as well.

I would expect Louisville to win this outright, with Marlington and maybe WB tailing....Minerva holding off Alliance and Salem for 4th.

You've got me scratching my head with this one bud. If I'm reading this right you think Minerva goes from 1st to 4th (maybe) in the second half of the season?

Undefeated South Range (12-0) shut down Salem 58-43. South Range also beat state-ranked and previously unbeaten McDonald. They play Marlington on 1/27 @ South Range.

Did Carrollton improve that much from the beatdown my Leps gave them? So explain the awful coaching?

With the Minerva loss to West Branch, tonight, Leps move into sole possession of 1st place.

Go look year after year the second time around in league play Marlington gets beat by teams they handled easily the first time. Same coaching second time around and no adjustments what so ever. If you went to the Louisville marlington game this year you should know. Marlington playing zone while Wahl lighting it up in first quarter. Come out in second half playing man go on a mini run to cut lead to 8, Louisville calls timeout and marlington comes out in zone and gives up back to back 3's.

Dukes seem to be struggling the last couple of games offensively. When I first saw your posted score, thought I was reading a typo. Did Carrollton slow the game down? Play zone defense? With that score I would imagine the Dukes had trouble getting the ball down low.

Carrollton played 2/3 zone and some man to man. Dukes have struggled offensively last 4 games. Carrollton slowed the game down alittle but not to the extent of stalling. Dukes run same offense All year. Everything goes inside for Marlington and Brady getting doubled and sometimes tripled teamed, but still go inside every possession. We'll see what happens rest of way. Louisville is definitely in drivers seat. West Branch playing solid. I haven't seen Minerva yet.

I hope my Leps are not overlooking WB. I stated earlier in the season WB could be that team to make some noise. The Warriors are playing some good basketball right now, believe have won 7 out of their last 8 games, and now knocked off Minerva and your Dukes back to back, both previously tied first place teams. How did/has the McCartney (Louisville transfer) played? He is eligiible to play now for Marlington?

It was his first game tonight played defense well. Struggled a bit on offense. Looked liked nerves mostly. He'll get better every game and is a plus for the program.
