Healthcare, because apparently no one agrees with Neopolitan on net-neutrality.

Healthcare is a great example of a dysfunctional market resulting in sky rocketing costs that over-extend the consumer. I'll let an expert like you tell me the best way to solve it. Go ahead....
Anything that creates free market competition will work better than any other solution.

So a complete free market is better than anything else?

Imo healthcare is whacked because of Medicaid refusing to pay the entire hospital bill. So the hospital in turn, decided to raise prices to cover the cost of the uninsured by having the insured absorb some of the cost. Then the hospitals decided to add every little item and price it at an exuberantly high price. Both parties are at fault here.

Why isn't there standard charges for hospitals across the board? I can see a 10-15% price difference, but their is honestly 1000% price differences when you compare the exact same procedure but from different hospitals.

If you don't understand all this..... that's kinda sad. This is America. It's that simple.

It really is good to read something from this poster not focused upon the typical nonsense that he engages in -

In the meantime, allowing them to charge different pricing favoring those companies with deep enough pockets for additional speed is bad for consumers and bad for the general business environment, which is more and more dependent on internet speeds.

I'm all for capitalism, but this is a bastardized unhealthy version of it.

Only in an environment where the ISPs are allowed to hold customers hostage by limiting competition is something like ending net neutrality even feasible.

here is a question.

Why would anyone post anything on here looking for sympathy? This might be the worst place to do it besides liveleak. I guess someone used up all the Facebook sympathy.

So is the rest of the world mostly. Throttling in the US would ultimately affect the internet overseas as well. Especially for people trying to access sites and servers based here.

Best I'm understanding this, it's a should the internet be a Turnpike or a Freeway for the uploaders? And the controversy is that some of the uploaders are charging the downloaders yet their cost and profits are not based upon how much they use the road? Wrong? Simplistic?

I'm not getting the argument for net neutrality. If someone uses more of the road, it seems reasonable they should have to pay more for it's upkeep, as in a Turnpike. I'm pretty sure NN is to MY benefit (freeway, I get my goods cheaply) but not clear it's the fair thing. Without net neutrality, it sounds to me internet would become like google. where all my searches result in advertising. I wouldn't want my access to internet to depend upon who can buy more of it.

The proponents of net nuetrality don't even really understand it. Most of them saw a John Oliver clip, heard some buzzwords, and now they're convinced repealing it will fundamentally change the internet.

In reality, repealing net neutrality will allow private companies to charge companies who places a heavier burden on their service different rates than those who don't. Hardly the end of the world, or even unfair.
