Another monster night moves Kyle up several more spots on the county career scoring list. 27 points in a win against a good, tall Ellet team moves him from 16th to 11th on the list. Tonight he passed Chip Hare of Perry, Kevin Finefrock of Central Catholic, Jackson's Evan Bailey, Nick Weatherspoon of McKinley, and Chad Mercer of Fairless. He now has 1,446 points.

Does any of this matter if Jackson doesn't at least win the district?

You can add 2017 All-Northeast Inland District Boys Basketball Player of the Year to Kyle Young's list of accomplishments. He shared the honor last year with Jon Teske of Medina.

19 points against St. Johns is doable and would get him to #6. I think to make it into the top 5, his team needs to make it to the title game, he'd need 3 more games.

Kyle Young has now moved into a tie for 7th on the Stark County Boys Basketball Career Scoring List. His 17 points in last night's 54-38 Regional Final win over Toledo St. John has put him in a tie with former Polar Bear Mark Henniger. He is one point behind McKinley's Raymar Morgan.

2. LeRoy Thompson, Waynesburg, 1746
3. J.J. Kukura, Alliance, 1681

5. Joe Concheck, Northwest, 1585
6. Raymar Morgan, McKinley, 1553
7. Mark Henniger, Jackson, 1552
tie Kyle Young, Jackson, 1552

Let's see if Kyle Young makes the pros, like Grant did, before shooting off your mouth. The team that Grant played on played the toughest schedule in the state and he didn't play against a bunch of farm league schools.

Whether or not a player has a great college career or a great pro career is not relevant to where they rank as high school players. Just like where a player stands on the all-time scoring list is not the be-all and end-all of who is the better player. For example, nothing against Jami Bosley (he was an excellent player), but I doubt many would place him as the best player to come out of Stark County.

Gary Grant was on such a talented squad that it did not require him to score a lot on most nights.

You are of course correct. To provide some context, this thread was started by one snarky Jackson fan solely to provoke a response from Mckinley fans. It has been primarily kept alive by a Jackson sycophant.

Basketball is a team sport. Team accomplishments trump individual ones every time (see Wilt Chamberlin).

A lot of fine high school basketball players have played in Stark County. Notice that this list doesn't change every year. So, I (along with reporters from the area) think that when it does change, and I know about it, it's newsworthy. Hence, the posts.

I've never equated the higher scoring player to being the "better player." But, in a game where the goal is to score more points than your opponent, the ability to score points has to carry a lot of weight.

The hater needs to look up the meaning of the word 'sycophant.'

This is an all-time HIGH SCHOOL scoring list for Stark County, nothing more. Some of you people seem to be missing that point entirely. Those of you bringing up Grant's pro career, however great it was, are also missing the point. It is a HIGH SCHOOL scoring list, and everyone on it deserves credit for THOSE accomplishments, including Kyle Young. End of story.

The original post was meant to troll McKinley fans, that is the point. Why else was this post after he passed Grant and not the dozens of other players? It's not rocket science.

Who cares why it was started. The kid is a heck of a player and has had quite a career. I'm sure the last thing on HIS mind right now is this. He is focused on winning a state championship.

I think we should congratulate him and cheer on him and his teammates on their quest to bring a State Championship back to Stark County.

Also, I think some of us get a little too sensitive on here. Maybe he did start the thread to troll, but also because passing Grant is a huge accomplishment because he may be the best player to ever come out of Stark County.

Grant was an excellent player. I really enjoyed watching him play.

You make him out to have been a god in high school. That's where the problem lies in this thread.

How long will it take for your panties to untwist after this?

The original post was based on information concerning the "list" by a reporter in an article in the Repository. Conspiracy theories aside, without that article I seriously doubt this thread exists. That's not rocket science either.

I don't care why it was started, just stating a fact that it was a troll attempt, as witnessed by his post #107 celebrating his trolling.

The Jax players show more class than some of their Yappi posters.
