Nwoal 2017

I will take a crack at it.

1. Liberty Center - new coach, same LC. A nice group of seniors and juniors.
2. Patrick Henry - Lost a nice group, but have a lot left in the barrel.
3. Archbold - I think they are better.
4. Wauseon - rebound year after a slow start in 2016. Still young.
5. Swanton - Spiess and Vicars knew the well was dry. Still some talent left.
6. Bryan - They looked different last year. They better look different again.
7. Evergreen - Good news! They return a lot. The bad news; they return a lot.
8. Delta - a 2-8 team that had some talent, but probably lost a lot of bad attitudes

A down year for the league?

I don't have full picks as of yet, but I was under the impression something like 18 of PH's 40 players last year were seniors. Do they really have a lot of starters returning?

I'd say LC is the favorite even with a new coach. Looks like a down year overall but you never know.

Long time reader...first time poster.

We don't know much yet obviously but a quick look at the NWOAL.org website at last year's all league squad shows just 2 non seniors on 1st team offense and 2 non seniors on the 1st team defense. By contrast, the previous year had 10 non senior 1st teamers. So I think you could qualify most teams as having a turnover this year.

As far as predicting league standings, the coaching changes in LC and Swanton would have to make a difference I would think. However, Swanton returns a QB and 2 RB's who were 2nd team all league. That's got to worth something. I think it is kind of wide open with maybe giving PH an edge in coaching.

1. Wauseon...Boat Load of talent
2. LC...most talent but have heard some are not going out
3. PH...Inselmann will have them in the mix
4. Bryan...another year in system and ton of athletes
5. Archbold...soccer has taken over in A-town...athletes not in football
6. Swanton...still a little talent but coaching losses will hurt
7. Evergreen...Vikings still a year away
8. Delta...Panthers losing numbers and not that talented.

LC picked by the coaches to win the league. Wauseon was second, PH third.

Based on what I am hearing and reading......here it goes.

1. LC...most talented and are defending league champs (Thx ty....LC is not defending champs:my mistake)
2. Wauseon...a lot of starters return but still must prove themselves after disappointing year
3. Bryan...seem to have the most athletes and another year in the system
4. PH...lost lots of talent off league championship team but still have Coach I
5. Swanton...should have enough talent to beat Evergreen, Delta and possibly Archbold
6. Archbold...may be too low but need to get tougher
7. Evergreen...coin flip for last 2 spots
8. Delta...read above

Actually Patrick Henry are the defending league champs. LC has a very talented jr class, whether they utilize them is another story.

Well scrimmages are over and season is upon us. Only thing I heard from the preseason is that Wauseon and LC looked really good, Archbold looks good, Bryan needs some work yet, and Swanton did not look good...all of this is according to dads and a few coaches.

Now that we are here in week 1, here is my prediction for league

1-LC
2-Wauseon
3-PH
4-Archbold
5-Bryan
6-Swanton
7-Evergreen
8-Delta

I think LC goes undefeated in the league and I think they have a legit shot to go 10-0 even with the tough non-conference games of Tinora & Napoleon. Will like to see how Wauseon's new offensive wrinkles play in the regular season but they looked good in the scrimmage I watched. I understand PH lost most everything to graduation, but I trust Coach I to have enough success to finish in the top 4.

Non-conference is over. The top two picks by coaches (LC and Wauseon) are the only undefeated teams. They look to still be the favorites. Nice to see Evergreen get 2 wins.

2... But, Wauseon & Liberty Center seem to be one of the favorites to. (Archbold has a very slight chance if they lost to Wauseon and LC)

At the midway point;

Liberty Center: 5-0 (2-0)
Archbold: 4-1 (2-0)
Wauseon: 4-1 (1-1)
Swanton: 3-2 (1-1)
Patrick Henry: 2-3 (1-1)
Bryan: 2-3 (1-1)
Evergreen: 2-3 (0-2)
Delta: 1-4 (0-2)

Big matchup this weekend against Liberty Center & Wauseon. This is must win for Wauseon if they wanna keep their playoff hopes alive. It would be hard to get in with 2 losses.

I see the LC/Wauseon match up like this:

Wauseon came out in their huge rivalry game against Archbold and was dominated on both sides of the line. Wauseon has some great athletes and will need to be able to throw the football to win this game because LC is much more dominant then Archbold.

LC has dominated the line of scrimmage and the games with everyone they have played so far. Wauseon poses the greatest challenge to the Tigers undefeated season but they have to come ready to play the most physical game of the year. If Wauseon can stop the running game of LC and force them to pass they win the game. If LC can run and control the clock it will be a long night for the Indians.

With 3 weeks to go, it's Archbold's title to lose. They finish against Delta, Evergreen, and Swanton. Everyone else in the league has at least 2 losses, except Swanton, who still has to play LC and at Archbold.

Archbold 4-0
Swanton 3-1
Wauseon 2-2
Lib. Center 2-2
Evergreen 2-2
Bryan 2-2
PH 1-3
Delta 0-4

Looks like 3 teams probably get in the playoffs: Archbold, Wauseon, and the winner of the Swanton/LC game.

single wing is an unknown quantity at this point
L.C. could still possibly get in at 7-3. They'd need some help, but there is an outside chance they can sneak in.

True and according to Fantastic 50, Swanton would likely be in if they beat Delta and either LC or Archbold.

If LC beats Swanton, Swanton beats Archbold and assuming Wauseon wins out, I think all 4 get in. If that happens, likely some re-matches of regular season will happen in Region 18.

Somewhat surprising season, at least when using preseason poll. Archbold (picked 4th) wins league. Bryan (picked 5th) and Swanton (picked 6th) tied Wauseon for second.

Wauseon, Archbold, Swanton make the playoffs giving Fulton County 3 teams in postseason.
