11's, don't scorekeepers get a small stipend for working the games? I would think that those requirements of no cell phones during game action and professional consideration should be reasonable.

Yes. Common sense should be a requirement to sit at the table, but that is not always the case, especially when dealing with HS students and those recently out of HS.

Sebring hosts Springfield, which has already beaten Western Reserve. This will take a monumental effort from the young Trojans.
What's the rest of the schedule?

Lowellville plays Western Reserve tonight and we'll get to see if the Rockets are a player this year. Elsewhere Waterloo and Ridge will battle to see who can get their first win. McDonald travels to Jackson-Milton after managing to win both in a really tough back to back over the weekend.

Springfield over Sebring, 75-51.
A three point third quarter was a killer.

Some interesting games on the docket tonight. Western Reserve travels to South Range who has been very impressive in a 6-0 start, and Lowellville travels to Sebring in a nice battle of teams fighting for position. Elsewhere McDonald travels to Ridge, Springfield hosts Campbell, and Waterloo looks for their first victory at Jackson-Milton

My picks:
South Range
Mcd
Springfield
JM
Of course, I have never picked a Sebring game. After having three boys wear the uniform, I stay away from that.
By the way, the Sebring game will be the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction
2004 State Semi-Final Boys' Basketball Team
John Scarpitti- '79, basketball
Leigh Henderson Grisez- '93, volleyball
Jessica Lepsesty Bobbey- '00, basketball

That 04 team was really good, I was very impressed seeing them at Struthers. It was coach Rasile's first year at McDonald and they had a nice run and thought they could maybe upset Sebring in the district title game but the Trojans were just too damn good. Honestly though I thought the 05 team was more impressive, and McDonald had a really good team that year and Sebring crushed them (along with everyone else) in the district.

Yes, the 05 team was probably better, but ran into a good Rosecrans team, which in turn, lost to Lutheran East.
The Trojans also went to Canton in 02, losing to Bristol, and 03, losing on a last second tip with seconds left, in the Regional Final. My second son was on the 02 and 03 teams.

Yes they had an incredibly run and I remember being very excited for their entry into the ICL/ITCL after that run because it would make some great basketball. We always used to laugh one of the better players names was Jesse James. Heck of a player though.

Yes, Jesse was a heck of a player. His older brother, Joey, was also pretty good.

Sebring falls to Lowellville, 55-44. I don't think the Trojans ever led, but got within one a few times. They struggle on the glass.

I see that now. WKBN had the score listed wrong, obviously. I thought it was a bit off but just chalked it up to maybe stall ball. Good win for Campbell

I believe the next few games for everyone will be non-conference over the holidays. Not sure of all the games, but just looking here are some of the bigger ones:
12/29 Springfield hosts undefeated South Range
12/29 Lowellville hosts Struthers
12/29 Western Reserve hosts Mogadore
1/2 McDonald hosts South Range (could be a game of unbeatens like last years huge game)
1/6 Lowellville hosts South Range

McDonald overpowered Niles in the 2nd half of their game to win 90-66 win. McDonald host South Range on January 2nd in a game that should be a doosie

Nice report. Was out of town for the holidays and not able to get to the game, reading the newspaper articles looks like McDonald only held a 6 point lead at half before turning it on, maybe just sleepy from Christmas? Anyway South Range beat Springfield last night setting up a showdown of unbeatens on Tuesday in McDonald, should be a packed house

Lowellville lost to struthers by around 12 at home, was 20 points until the last 3 minutes. I see SR winning this with the teams they play.

It'll be an interesting game for sure with clashing styles, south range is giving up only a bit more than 40 ppg, McDonald is scoring over 80 ppg. McDonald will have the 2 best players on the floor but they keys will be for them to stay out of foul trouble and for the others to step up when needed. Should be a fun game, and hopefully someone can provide updates as I won't be able to attend.

27 -22 halftime. McDonald with the lead. South Range plays great defense. Poole got 2 fouls early had to sit a while. Rasile has 2 threes but they playing him tight. Role players look way better than what I saw vs Girard.

57-49 final South Range. Too good defensively. Bothered Rasile all night and Poole was non factor in the game. Don't know why they don't design plays to get Poole involved more.

Looks like SR was able to dictate the pace and tempo with their D, and play their game. Tough loss but things can definitely be learned from games like this. With Reserve, Lowellville, and Springfield coming up in the next 5 games going to be a tough stretch. Thanks for the updates!

When was the last time McD lost at home? SR is for real and will only get better as the year goes on. Getting to Canton will be a challenge for anyone in the Struthers District this year.
