Southwest Ohio D2 is still looking around the corner to make sure Ashton Kutcher doesn't jump out from under a scorers' table yelling " You just got punked".

Lol
I wonder who his self-anointed replacement is when he drops this bomb 2 months before the season starts?
Well played, Jeff.

Most respondents were bashing the guy. Geez, have another one why don't you.
Much respect to your career and the sport Coach Jordan!

Come on People! You had to know that not every poster on here was a JJ Fan! I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with his Coaching as he will go down in Legendary Coaching status for what he built at the small rural town in lil ole St Paris. Making the into a National Power but not every personal JJ story will be a good one.

At a Catholic school like St. Paris Graham, does Bishop Campbell have any say in his replacement or is it completely the call of the St. Paris Graham parish?

I'm sure Coach Root will be applying for this. It's right up his alley.

I hear Father Koennecke is praying to the patron Saint of Wrestling, Saint Paris. We should know soon who will be the next Pope of wrestling. Look for the smoke to rise out of the athletic building.

from July Amateur Wrestling News:
Distinguished Member Material?
Only eight high school coaches are Distinguished Members in the Hall of Fame in Stillwater, the very highest honor. Too few, imo. Last to go in was Bill Weick (Illinois) in 2007 and he had other credentials aside from 749 high school dual wins (749-112-2). Actually not many coaches get inducted as a DM based on primarily a coaching career. The most recent college coaches to do so were Bob Bubb (Clarion) 2005, Bucky Maughan (N. Dakota St) 2003, Gary Kurdelmeir (Iowa) 2000, and Joe Seay (Bakersfield) 1998.
At high peril to myself, I compiled a short list of high school coaches that I am aware of who deserve Distinguished Member consideration from over the last 30 years.
Highlighting Seven
Longevity, great team success, a legacy of character, a leader of men. An X-factor that set them apart. Who could make the Distinguished Member case once their career is done? I highlight Dave Crowell, Ernie Jones, Russ Cozart, Steve Powell, Jeff Jordan, Greg Urbas and Jeff Buxton. (Jones, Jordan and Crowell are still coaching high school; Buxton is still coaching.)
Jeff Jordan Did It His Way
In corn country central Ohio a dynasty was borne, its architect Jeff Jordan; one of two Jordan brothers who became four-time Ohio state champs. Brother Jim is ranked as the most conservative representative in the U.S. Congress, he is also a two-time NCAA champion for the U of Wisconsin. Jeff Jordan, a two-time All-American there, starts every season with three stated goals: win state, beat St. Edward, beat Blair Academy. Jordan was the assistant coach at Graham for nine years and became the head coach in 2002.
Seventeen straight years his team has won the rugged Ohio Division II state tournament with a total of 73 individual titles. Jordan has broken St. Edward’s hold on Ohio. Jordan had two teams that were acclaimed No. 1 in the nation and this year’s team was the nation’s best public school in AWN’s eyes. In a poll on a popular Ohio forum they asked “Who Is Ohio’ All-time Greatest Wrestling Coach?” You could vote only once. Jeff Jordan won easily. Jordan’s three sons Bo (4), Micah (4) and Rocky (3) won a total of 11 state titles.

Yappi Poll
OH HS GOAT Coach
Harold Kester - John Hay/Cleveland West 0%
Mike Milkovich - Maple Heights 15.28%
Harold Ferguson - St Eds 15.28%
Bill Barger - Walsh Jesuit 5.56%
Greg Urbas - St Eds 18.06%
Jeff Jordan - Graham 45.83%
What really separated Jordan from the others on the list IMO is that the others are all from NE OH, the birthplace of OH wrestling, and the most dominate area for OH HS wrestling since the beginning of the sport in our state. St Paris is in the middle of nowhere, hidden in corn country about 50 miles west of Columbus and 30 miles north of Dayton. Who builds a national power here in wrestling? Only Jim Jordan. While I see SPG replacing him with a very capable coach, I see their future success more in the D2 level and not being able to compete with Eds and Blair like Jordan's teams did.

Milkovich deserved much higher-- much much higher-- but he retired and moved to the Florida Keys in 1977 so most voters never saw his career. He was an innovator at a public school, no open enrollment. Theres a reason he was the 3rd high school coach inducted as a Distinguished Member in the National Hall of Fame.
My guess is Ohio may never have another one, not for decades if then. Jordan has the record but not the longevity, but he'd still be on the very short list. Next in, most likely imo Cozart from Florida.

If the article from the Urbana paper is correct, he had 28 guys who went on to be NCAA AAs ... and the meter is still running. That's pretty remarkable. Has any other high school coach, regardless of tenure, coached so many eventual AAs? Buxton maybe? Urbas (his meter is also still running)? Others?
In MS, I thought my kid might be able to someday qualify for the state tourney. He went to Jordan's open mats on Sundays for a season, plus a couple camps each year. Ended up a SC. I'd attribute about 70% of his progress to Jeff ... technique, culture, training partners (even if only for a few days each summer). Unparalleled.
Congrats Jeff on a fantastic career.

Jordan was something St Eds will never be, classy in victory and classy in defeat. This is about Jordan not your ongoing blabbering about your school.
