Time will tell. Lisbon might not be the most talented team I have seen, but they are a TEAM. That can carry you a long way in a team sport.

Time will tell. Any team can play as one, eliminating conflict and fundamental mistakes are priority.

Anyone got Info on how Wellsville malvern played out? 41-40. Surprised the tigers put up that much after only putting up 13 the first two games. Didn’t think they’d win this one after getting dominated by a normally poor team in Edison last week. Surprise surprise.

Standings in the EOAC are upside down!?!?
Leetonia 3-0
…..
EP 1-2
Columbiana 0-3

Bulldogs giving up 37 points to a Campbell team that had a hard time finding the end zone in the first two weeks. Not a good sign for the Bulldogs as they enter league play.

It was 48-7 and then Campbell left their starting offense in to score a bunch on the EP’s freshmen/JV. I’ll give Campbell credit for playing hard till the end, but after their second drive of the game they barely had any first downs versus EP starting D.

Come on Raider.
Campbell Varsity did their damage on the Dog's JV's. That game was out of reach 48-7 before that happened. If EP left the starters in, EP would have had 70.

CAMPBELL: 0- 7- 0-30–37

E. PALESTINE: 7-21-13- 7–48

Watching the highlights, it looked like Campbell was struggling with size and number, so I was shocked at the final score. But, Memorial scoring 30 points in the 4th quarter on the JV's makes sense.

Good luck to the Bulldogs and Red Devils the rest of the season.

Congrats to the Leetonia Bears on their 3-0 start. For a team that only had 1 overtime one point win in 2 years, I am sure the whole Village is excited at their start.

From the article in the Review, it looks like Lisbon suffered some injuries last night. Does anyone know if any were serious?

Would not surprise me to see Columbiana go off in their next 5 games before the last two weeks of the season when they play Southern and EP. 0-3 while playing three 3-0 teams who will have a shot at week 11. McDonald is not in the top 8 right now, and Western reserve is only in the 8th spot. Shows you how tough that Region 21 is.

Interested to see how Southern does against SCC today. This Catholic Central team has high hopes for this season.

We’ll see what Southern does today but after last night I’m still pretty confident Columbiana and EP will be at the top of the league standings come week 10. United played a somewhat competitive game with Newbury, Lisbon got beat up by VC.

Interesting that VC beat up Lisbon. VC only beat Campbell by 7 and EP had them 48-7 before the JV team went in.

That is strange. I do know Malvern was without their starting RB for most of the game in week 1, and their holder was also hurt so no FG's or XP's. Their RB had 8 carries for 53 yards before getting hurt. Not that it would have changed the outcome, but they are probably a much different team without him. Just weird that VC would beat up on Lisbon and not Campbell, but with some of their skill players being hurt, I'm sure Lisbon was completely out of their game plan.

Just saw the final score Bulldog....didn't know the details until this morning. Good to see the Dogs get their first win. That should be a confidence builder.

Wellsville was up by 3 touchdowns a couple of times. In the second half, Wellsville was without 3 guys on defensive/in the secondary and Malvern took advantage of it. Malvern hit on a few really big, low percentage plays to get themselves back into the game.

Plus, the scores of the first two games were not indicative of how competitive they were. 9 turnovers the first two games, not to mention 7 or 8 dropped passes in the first game. Wellsville turned the ball over 3 times inside the Edison 30, and it was only 7-0 vs Beaver with 3 minutes to go in the first half. It was 13-7 at the same point against Edison. And in those first two games they could have score a lot more points late, but the coaching staff elected to get their freshmen/younger guys some playing time instead.

If anything, this game shouldn't have been close, but kudos to the kids and staff at Malvern, they have A LOT of young, skilled players and they're going to be a thorn in the side of everyone they play the next two years.

I still cringe at the 5 dropped passes in the opening drive. Campbell's 2 quarter TD was a blind squirrel finding a nut.
I'd honestly say that if Foster left the starters in, it would have been 70+.
That said, week 4 begins.

Lisbon was already without their starting RB for the game. They were only down 14-7 at half. Injuries started to mount up after that. VC is extremely athletic and fast though. They have some players for sure.

I figured it was something like that. Injuries kill small schools, especially at the skill positions.

I'm probably the only one on here that posts that was at those VC games. That Campbell score was NOT telling on how that game went. Just like the 48-37 score between EP & Campbell doesn't tell the story. 2 TDs called back in penalties for VC plus some good old fashion Barney Fife shooting one self in the foot.
As for Lisbon, yeah Sweeney wasnt dressed and Lisbon had other injuries in the 2nd half. Most of those injuries came after it was 34-7. Good luck and speedy recovery to Lisbon- we need the Harbins😎

Southern handled CC fairly well.

Not really surprised at some of the smaller schools and their OOL records. That fact will change dramatically starting this week.

EP vs United, common OOL Salem. Dogs had Salem beaten a few times in their game, yet lost. United was shut out by the Quakers. Dogs should be at least 3 TD's better than the Eagles.
Columbiana and Leetonia- Clippers get win #1 by several TD's. Leetonia may be unbeaten, but they didn't play anyone OOL like the winless Clippers did.
Lisbon vs Wellsville - Tigers get by the wounded Devils by a TD
Southern vs Toronto- Toronto gets hammered by the Indians. Southern is atop of R21, that will not last. Enjoy it while your there.

Thoughts gentlemen?

It was 20-7 when the injuries hit...a little past halfway through the 3rd quarter. Lost starters on back to back plays.

Add to that, a blown backwards pass missed by the refs inside the VC 20. Ball was recovered by Lisbon with no one around. That's a serious potential point swing there.

That wasnt backwards. Ruled incomplete and the ref was right there.

Agree to disagree. It was almost a full yard behind where the QB released the ball.

Can't hang your hat on what could have been, but that was a play where the swing could have gotten Lisbon right back in the game.

The tigers looked good at times at times. Hopefully the good times will out weigh the bad times this week.

If Lisbon comes to play, they beat Wellsville. Lisbon was beaten by a better team last Friday. Flat out beat. Wellsville is not V. Christian. The Lisbon/Wellsville rivalry is one of the longest in Columbiana County. I expect a good game early with Lisbon pulling out the win. Injuries kill small school football teams.

Hopefully it is a competitive, injury free game. Good luck!
