It seems that every great linebacker Ignatius has sent to OSU never played a game because of injuries. Maybe Tommy wanted to avoid this jinx.

One can only dream. These Canadian schools do nothing for the programs other than getting backups playing time, while never throwing the football.
Why in the world would you want to play this game more than 1 time in the regular season? Columbus has several schools that would schedule either team. I have to imagine Pittsburgh has several schools willing to schedule either team. Both are short drives. Better then playing twice in the regular season.

Talk to Columbus schools about scheduling either team and you'll be laughed out of the room. Don't you think that everyone possible has been contacted, especially since both teams are willing to travel out of state?

Why would they be laughed out the room? It would be an easy money maker.

I don't know much about any Columbus schools. But I do know the WPIAL (Pittsburgh) schools all only have 1 game to play outside of the WPIAL. And it is only week 1. So if Iggy or Ed's want to play a Pittsburgh team, it would have to be week 1. (the WPIAL actually calls that week 0). But Eds played Pine Richland 2 years ago week 1. But that is the only week available to the WPIAL.

To this point, Columbus schools have no reason to travel or host anyone other than schools in their area. Occasionally, one will venture forth, but it is uncommon.

Qb most likely between senior Patrick Delahunty and junior Griffin Hanna. Everything depends on the quality of the lines, which have been excellent the past two years. I believe practices for all schools began today. An interesting note: according to the schedule, Ignatius will host a team from Toronto at Fairview Park High. First time for that.

I was told I’m related to a kid last name Joyce who plays/played for the Cats. Just curious as to what kind of player he was to those who watched him. Might be a senior now or was last year. My grandmother and his great-grandmother apparently were sisters and think I met his dad, maybe his uncle, once in the weight room in college decades ago. Thanks in advance!

Logan Joyce graduated this year; he was an excellent linebacker. He did not play his junior year, but returned this year. You can see an interview with him here. He's #47.

Here's a report from the Ignatius athletics website

https://www.ignatiuswildcats.com/new...le/show/940169

Bkmk1's post on the scrimmage thread said

I watched Solon scrimmage St. Ignatius on SIBN. I thought Ignatius controlled the scrimmage. I wouldn't say they dominated. I thought Griffin Hanna looked better than Delahanty (not sure that's spelled correctly). Ignatius lost their kicker from last year (Trickett) - new kicker booming kickoffs out of end zone). Ignatius defense looked solid against the run. Solon defense looked pretty good against the run. Pretty vanilla. But Ignatius was the better team in the scrimmage today.

I also watched it on the SIBN . Sometimes the students doing the broadcast don't know exactly what they are saying and confuse players/names in the preseason. Best to watch with the volume down for the first few games.

Either way, I thought Hanna looked good during skeleton but Delahunty made better decisions during the scrimmage.

Eichenburg was a beast during the Solon scrimmage. He was unblockable and Ignatius did a good job moving him around.

Losing TE Daugstrup, who was going to be a huge target on offense, hurts.

I concur. Those games are somewhat akin to Massillon playing Conotton Valley.
I'm not disparaging C. Valley, it's simply a matter of personnel, facilities and numbers.

Ignatius athletics website reports that senior Patrick Delahunty (6’0”, 195#) will start at QB versus Hoban. His knowledge and execution of the offense along with his leadership were cited.

Junior Griffin Hanna (6’1’”, 175#) will not have a passive role as the coaches expect Hanna to play extensively during the season, including against Hoban. Hanna’s athleticism and arm were cited. It appears Hanna must have some real upside. Having seen him play JV basketball last season, his athleticism was apparent

ColinCat, you have to learn how to write more clearly. Everything you write is open to several interpretations. "Wow", they're good. "Wow, they're bad. Like your use of the word "Yikes" not explaining if it would mean the JVs were good or bad. I used to be in a hiring position for my office, and I would reject you offhand unless you learned to write more distinctly.

Oline looks the worst I recall seeing since I began watching in 88....really bad, swiss cheese must have been jealous because that line had more holes. Floyd was neutralized because line made him not an option, and qbs were lucky to to count to 2 without having to sit down or run for their life
