Just so you know, there is more to the Hornets than just Jake. As the season progresses, you will see....

You two always going at it! Fun times. Go Hornets!!!

Jake is good, but we do need more tricks in the hat..

Interestingly, it's starting to sound more and more like Highland is the team to beat but we still don't know much about them.

Wish Wadsworth was in the SLA because it would make for more interesting discussions in this league.

Not sure yet. Ravenna was a good test last year and Tallmadge barely won. Ravenna was a good test this year and Ravenna barely won. I believe that Ravenna is better this year and Tallmadge could have easily won (they went to overtime). On paper, Tallmadge's starters are just as talented as last year. The difference appears to be less depth this year.

Tallmadge came in 4th place in the SLA last year. I think they will do better this year and finish in the top 3 but there are alot of unknowns throughout the league right now.

So the short answer is that I do not think Tallmadge is down this year.

Starting to get the feeling that the SLA is way down. Not hearing anything about any D1 recruits, no top teams, no stat freaks. Being a fan of the Portage Trail Conference, this year feels like what the PTC is most years. A couple nice teams that might make the playoffs but no real chance to win against the big boys.

Yes, Barberton lost everything, knew they didn't have much, their schedule is so darn sad that it will give them false hope. Aurora down, Copley has 9 seniors and not much size, Revere might be OK, ditto Tallmadge. Highland the lone team that might make a little noise?

Uh huh.....St V was a real joke right?

And 2019-20......Lets just say that Green will never have the nuts to schedule a couple of the teams we play OOC in the coming years.

Was at the Twinsburg/Copley game, Copley has a D1 recruit . . . their punter.

Do you feel better about the SLA now?

In all seriousness, their punter was one of the most impressive high school punters I've seen. Several punts fielded on the fly by Twinsburg 55+ yards down the field, return men were lining up 50 yards downfield and having to back up to field the punts (with no real return chance).

He has committed to play at Duke.

That's interesting I didn't realize I said that to everyone else, OK. HS football and an area league, have a friends son that plays for Revere and one for Copley, is it OK if I'm on here? Now time to get ready for that juggernut Kenmo team.

Kenmore is up this year, city might come down to Kenmore and North! LOL!

Seriously though, Barberton did lose a lot. We have some good young players who lack experience. Our weaker OCS is just what the doctor ordered for this young team to get experience and grow. The SLA is down this season, but in a year or two things should get back to normal.

That is something else to take into consideration. The talent may be there in the SLA but not quite ready. With the right wins, these teams can build throughout the season and be a threat into the playoffs.

Tallmadge squeaks by Ellet 20-14. Ellet had every chance to win this game.

Tallmadge game tonight was strange. All the scoring was in the first half. Turnovers, cramps, penalties and missed opportunities were the story of the second half. Both teams had opportunities in the second half but alot of the problems were self-inflicted. Not sure where these teams fit in yet but I suspect both are decent to above average in the regions.

Agreed. Next week against Firestone won't mean much but the week 4 matchup with Barberton will tell us alot about Revere. Maybe they will be making the big jump to the top of the league this year.
