Anyone know if they will seek an exception to the OHSA transfer bylaws so that they are eligible for the second half of the season and the tournament?

Does it matter if you are moving back to your home district?

I'm not sure how you define "home district" or if it means anything to OHSAA. If you mean that the athletes' parents made a bona fide move into the district or there was a change of legal custody then my understanding is those would be valid exceptions and they would not need to sit out.

If they transferred at the end of last season or before May 15 they'd still only sit the first half if they don't meet an exception.

The transfer rule may be a moot topic since these kids would have to actually be moving to attend Pick Cent because they surely are not commuting. The transfer rule and sitting out does not pertain to athletes who make a bona fide move.

The transfer rule certainly does apply to these students. If they feel they have made a bona fide move, they can apply for an exemption under that exception. If that is the case and they get the blessing of OHSAA, then the sitting out the second half of the season would be the mute topic. Anyhow, I think that is what you meant and just thought I'd try to clarify the mute point.

If a bona fide move is made, there is no reason the OHSAA would not exempt them from the transfer rule. So as I said, if that is the case then sitting out a portion of this season is not a concern.

Just out of curiosity. What is a bonafide move? Does ohsaa send someone to an address to assure thats where the student lives?

Yes. If a student has previously played a sport in high school, the new school is suppose to verify the residence for the student to receive an exemption from sitting. This difference would be if a student open enrolls into a new school and does not actually live in the district he attends. Then he would not qualify for the bona fide move exemption.

From my info, They illegally went to Springfield. Their parents were still in Columbus while they attended Springfield high. They moved back this summer with the parents address from where they were at their freshman year. Towns went to Pick North and Rodgers went to Pick Central. They will get to play for Pick Central the whole season because the moms are giving up their custodial rights.
